One of our few F35's has gone down on the Med. The good news is the pilot ejected and has safely returned to the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth. No doubt investigation of circumstances will follow.

Another 2% taken off the Pensioners, to support the defence budget should cover the cost of the £100M replacement...

I'm fairly sure that a loss like this is factored into the overall project metrics and has been budgeted for. Granted, the impact will be felt across the board (Engineering and Ops) until another frame is delivered but hey ho.

What would be the outcome if an engine blank and had been left in on take off? Asking for a friend.
Heard the same rumour? 🤣👍

I reached out to some of my old contacts......Blanks not fitted on the deck apparently. So (if it is FOD and not Operator Error), what damaged the engine?

On a plus point, the Memes hitting the street are on point as always....🤣👍

At least they saved a few bob on maintenance and upgrade costs.

The ejectee apparently landed on the flight deck after parachute deployment. Didn't even get wet.

So if he landed on the flight deck, this was a take off or landing crash. Big fan thingy with its transmission system comes into play.

IF, it was a suspected system failure they would have grounded the fleet within hours of the incident. The fact that they haven't points to a simple explanation such as bird strike or similar ( Intake blank ? ) or an underpowered / under speed take-off attempt.

Please remember that this one is plastic and won't corrode for 500+ years...containing all those bit of poisonous circuitboards that the Putin mob will eagerly sweep up at their swiftest leisure - keeping the oceans safe for all corals and fish, obviously...

Well it seems one system failed. Depends if Jerry Pooks favourite line is proven to be correct.
