The PVR rate is just one side of the effect of NEM and the NI increases.

What about the folk who are close to their Immediate Pension Point (like me) who will just do what's required and 'get by' for the next couple of years?

Certainly in my workplace, no one is looking past their next Option point...

What do you class as 'close'? I've got 7 to push, and I've binned off any thoughts of promotion, postings, and all the stuff that's deemed 'mandatory' in order to progress. It's suprising how much personal and family time you can get in, when you're not filling secondary duties / being advised to volunteer for stuff...

I re-did my pension calculator yesterday - I'm guessing they've taken the new pay scales into consideration, because the difference between doing the next 7 years as a Cpl or a Sgt is negligible!

Always was. It was the next jump that made the difference.

The next jump doesn't bother me - in 7 years I will have donated a quarter of my estimated lifetime to Her Maj's Service - I have no interntion of going past my 22! I intend to spend the latter half of my life doing a job I actually like!

There are around 30 TG4 PVRs that have flown in within the last couple of months. Quite a few from 90su

That's not what I heard... apparently the whole of Play Group 4 has PVR'd....

Eeeh... ffs.... give me strength...

If it's within the last couple of months, then it's not because of NEM then, is it? The information regarding what supplement TG4 would be in has been rumoured for a while. Proved the one that I read was correct.

Last chat with some of the CAOS Gapping people provided the completely unofficial information that there were approximately 10 ETs in the system for TG4.... nothing unusual there, really. The number for NEM specfic exits can only be guessed at unless you are intimately involved with someone in the Death Star. This could rise as there are probably a few being sat on to "encourage" people not to be too hasty...

Yes, people are pi55ed off and yes, the hits just keep on coming, but please don't come out with completely unsubstantiated rumours.

IMHO, the letter from "on high" smacks of panic and OMG, what have we let happen. The ineffectiveness of those supposedly in the know will leave us in tatters within a few years.

The trade now ranges from admin/helpdesk jobs to heavy (well, -ish) radar in some remote locations, not to mention the mighty 90 saving us all from the latest terrorist band. They're expecting the SQEP personnel to be able to do all these jobs. Hence, the job evaluation scores have been done as an average across the trade. The RN and Army equivalents are not all on Supp 3, some are in Supp 2 with us.

I'm not disagreeing that the NEM pay award is b0ll0x - it is. But see it for what it is. It affects everyone. What pi55es me off is the fact that not one of our trade "specialists" saw what was coming. Ever since the inception of TG4, we've always been on a loser and were always gonna drop in some way, due to the reduction in skill sets across the whole trade.

Bring on the proposed changes - especially giving us a another new name (gets me excited every time, that one) - review the trade and how it's been completely done over. Do more job evaluations. Great! But why, oh why, wasn't this disaster seen before it arrived.

I'm not going to say I'm completely dissillusioned, but I do feel extremely let down by the trade hierarchy for letting this happen.

At least we're not in with the Scopies and Medics who are going to be battling with a Supp 1 v's Supp 3 argument wherever they go.

Now, where's that Excel chuff chart from the Falklands that reveals a bit of Page 3 every day you do...? 5 years and counting... maybe...

With the AO A6 replacement announced I look in wonder at what will actually be followed through from the letter that the previous AO sent out!

I know the A6 road very well... It starts South of Luton and goes all the way north through Chorley, Lancs, ending in Carlisle.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/A6_road_(England)

However, that wasn't my question... I'll rephrase...

Are we talking about the letter from Mr Russell to TG1 Wpns Personnel? Or something different...?

I'm not TG4, but I had to have a read of the letter that was sent out. Saying that it smacks of panic is perhaps a bit of an understatement, but it was the promise of having the situation ironed out within a 'couple of years' that made me spit coffee over my keyboard. Should have seen it coming, shouldn't have been able to get to this stage.

But the real biter for me is that the guy writing the letter - an Airship - is writing to ask people to please not leave the MOB for a better job with more pay, despite the fact that he's sitting pretty in his Airship office, raking in a rediculous £100k+ a year - while the TG he represents is taking a pay nosedive.

If I had good IT quals, and could get a better paid IT job outside of the MOB (which would subsequently remove any requirement for sandy 6 month holidays etc) then I'd be all over it - by brother in law has a NVQ in IT and website design, it 10 years younger than me, has been doing it for 10 years less than I have and earns a lot more than I do!

The pension / cheap housing / medical + dental / free gym membership 'benefits' that we keep getting waved in our faces are barely worth the aggro these days. And right now, thanks to the fact that retirement / pensionable age is getting nearer and nearer to 100, I could probably build up a decent pension elsewhere.

There is a vast majority already doing HR and MT functions as a matter of daily routine outside of their trade boundaries so why do we have to have "specialist" trades for those?

Don't forget that for years we have all cleaned our own weapons.

No wonder someone finally cottoned on to the lack of work the armourers do.

(go on, bite you feckers!)
