    TG1 goodbye Chf Tech

I think his is the right and fair way. I was a CT (ex AD, ex EngTechEL)TG4 when the Chief rank was binned. Then Chiefs were just abandoned. I was promoted to Sgt in '93 then to CT in 2003, so plenty of experience as a SNCO, but Sgt ex-TG11 were being promted to FS over Chiefs. One of the main...

    Rugby Union world Cup

There are certainly areas of the game that need serious addressing. I read a fact the other day - 3 out of the 4 finals that SA have won were without scoring any tries. To me that sucks. Some of the so-called lower tier sides gave much better vfm in their games. Portugal and Fiji both impressed...

    SWO's....

SWOs were never the same when they rid of TG10. They had a history of being disciplinarians from the likes of Hereford and Swinderby. It was never the same being bollocked by an ex-supplier or chef.

    Court Martial: Soldiers Behind Bars

Not many RN or RAF in MCTC on this show. My wife was made acting Sgt in 1991 to go to MCTC because a WRAF had been locked up for the first time. It had to be RAF that handled her which I thought was odd. I wonder if it's still like that now. My wife hated it there btw, way too much Army sh!te.

    FRI Inbound

I was half way through a 4 year Cyprus posting when I hit 22. So finished off there and a couple of years at Waddo to sort out my personal affairs and then left and straight to another job. So 26 years in all.

    ORMA RAF monthly A

My wife got it today - £456. She rang the pension lot and was told is was due to a miscalculation in the lump sum she got when she turned 60 last year. She did 9 years and left in 1993.

Taking the law into your own hands

Call 999? That's a laugh. They would have just given him a crime number and not bothered turming up.

Taking the law into your own hands

I watched this and it made my piss boil. Life is totally unfair. I feel really sorry for him and his wife - and to terminate a pregnancy too. When the verdicts were announced I could not believe it. Poor guy, hopefully some firm will step up and give him a decent job.

    Who Sucks the Devil's Plums?

Apple - just because. Only 2 of their overpriced bits of shiney plastic have come inside these walls and both were utter crap: an iphone 4 that my wife bought and never worked properly. Another an ipod nano, that was horrid sounding and awful to use. I really don't get the appeal of Apple...

RAF Branches and Trades; to be reduced from 68 to 11

The way it ended up with GD: they could not go above the rank of SAC. They had to remuster to get promoted. The Cpls and above in Guardrooms, and the DIs at Swinderby/Hereford were never GD (unless remustered), rather RAF Admin (TG10).

    More idiocy....

I've always wanted to live in Herefordshire. It's a lovely county. I watched my sister pass out at RAF Hereford in 1980 (a Kennel Maid of all things) and I did both my GSTs there.

    Vaccination Thread

My wife and were due our second AZ jabs 01 Jun, but both got a text Sunday 16 May to go early. So a quick change on the NHS Covid booking site and booked last Monday 17 May. Incredibly slick and easy to use service once again.

Falklands - Was it a Good Det?

Forgot to mention that my wife was a Cpl there at MPA in '91. She worked at both 12 and 38 fy. The RIB then was Green Jackets, then one of the Para regiments. My God, she has some horror stories from those lot. Luckily on my 2nd tour in 2007, the 38fy "Bronx" had been fixed by moving the RIB to...

Which Bar for One More Pint?

Sounds familiar, as I would go for the Albatross club at Episkopi. Great until we went joint with the siggies. I went once after that and they even changed its name - gits.

Falklands - Was it a Good Det?

First time up a mountain (in my case Byron Heights) was great. Second time in a joint unit at MPA was boll**cks.

    Vaccination Thread

My wife and I had ours last Wednesday. She just had a sore arm, whereas I felt like sh*t the next day - like the start of a cold: achy and hot. Only lasted that day though. AstraZeneca.

What Happens in Basic Training Today?

I joined in 1982 and whilst I wouldn't say there was any bullying, there was certainly violence. I recall one time when a recruit 3 or 4 down in the row from me on parade was kneed in the groin by the Sgt. All I heard was him hit the floor as he dropped to the ground. It was others closer to him...

    Deflating an aircraft tyre.

SQEP was a commonly used term when I worked for a ciivy company (outside the military).
