But who would be top dog or would they let them race to wheel to wheel?
At least we would find out who the better driver is regardless of the car

Jenson Button could join Lewis Hamilton, the man he replaced as Formula One world champion, in an all-British dream team at McLaren next season.
It is understood McLaren and their title sponsors Vodafone, who contribute £50million a year, would welcome the tantalising line-up.
Although Vodafone were reluctant to comment publicly, a key source close to
the company said: ‘Any team would like to have two world champions in their ranks.’

One current and one ex. I don't think Button would do that to Brawn anyway.

I do! He took a 50% pay cut last year to help the team get back on it's feet.
All he's is asking for now is to be put back on his original salary, but Brawn won't pay it.

Journalistic speculation at its very best (worst?). No facts, just idle chat disguised as fact. Ask ANY of the teams if they would like "a current and past world drivers champion on their books", and not many would say no.

But the ex-champion Kimi is being binned for ex-champion Fernando...

It would make a great line up.

After winning the championship this year to put him back on his old salary is not asking alot, at the end of the day money talks and the chance of working with another team that has a good F1 pedigree should not be sniffed at.

That said Brawn has proved with little resources that it has the potential to be a pedigree team of the future, If Mercedes are on board with thier budget then Ross has the opportunity to show the world yet again that he is possibly the biggest mover and shaker F1 has seen in modern times. Its not just drivers that make the sport what it is.

I love it when people start down this road.

Brawn inherited a 14 month project that was going to be Honda's 2009 car. Honda pumped millions into it I'd wager, and as a parting gift, they gave Brawn the plans, etc. So as soon as the season started, some 200 people got laid off at Brackley. How much have they got to develop the 2010 car? I personally don't think it is much and will probably see Brawn go the same way as the back end of this season, mid to front of pack rather than total domination like the start of the season.

Norbert Haug has rubbished the idea. That probably means it'll happen.
Mercedes has bought into Brawn and will wan't to keep the No1 on their car, and the the garage at the right end of the pitlane.

This could be a bit of a bargaining plan. Kimi hasn't given an answer to McLarens offer yet and so will put pressure on him, and if Brawn know that Button has an offer of a big pay rise from the macca's, someone is going to have to blink quickly.

Despite all the knockers, I think that Button could hold his own against Hamilton, and he wouldn't be prone the the temper tantrums that Alonso had.

Bring it on.................! :pDT_Xtremez_14:

Ok then!

Whoever the other McLaren driver is, they arent allowed to compete with Hamilton!

So much for me trying to be tactful!

Sits back and awaits the slagging......:pDT_Xtremez_42:

Ok, would maccas pay £10m a year for Button, and not let him be competive?

We now know that the Ferrari is a dog to drive which is why Kimi has struggled to be competitive in the early part of the season. It was obviously designed to suit Massa. Kimi struggled with it, and after Massa'a accident we have had two other experienced drivers struggle with it.

I believe that after Massa's accident the car was then altered to suit Kimi. Ferrari simply had no other option.

McLaren will have to pay a fair old whack for Button, but I think they will both have the same car. They have different driving styles and one should suit one circuit and another suit a different circuit. I think they could compliment each other. I may be wrong, there is only one way to find out.
I hope it happens.

He might have taken a 50% pay cut, but he was out on his ear until they gave him a drive, it's not as if they were cueing up at his door. If he does push off then it'll prove he has no morals.

Can't see Brawn being anywhere next year, they are a small team on a small budget, they were lucky this year with Honda's legacy and even then they were falling behind from the mid season. Unless Virgin put in some serious money!

I believe that the Brawn tean actually ran out of money half way through the season, and couldn't afford to develope the car any further. They blagged it for the last half of the season.
They now have the prize money to come, and a massive financial input from Mercedes. They'll now get the sponsors. They'll be there.
