Boris Johnson is the new mayor of London, according to the latest edition of the Evening Standard.

The London newspaper has reported that Boris Johnson was "so far ahead on first-preference votes he could not be caught by Mr Livingstone, even after second preferences were taken into account".

The result is reported following a catastrophic result for Gordon Brown and the Labour Party in local elections across England and Wales.

Pack yer bags Gordon.
You may have the initials GB, but you're not good enough for Great Britain.:pDT_Xtremez_30:

Quite frankly Labour are not going to survive the next General election and they know it. Stand by for a load of backstabbing and confusion as they prepare to go down in a flurry of ignomy, just like the Tories before them.
After the total Balls up of the last few years anyone who votes for them this time round has their head rammed up their uber-socialist backside.
The alternatives aren't too much better but frankly it'd be worth it to see the back of GB.
It's a shame Tony won't be around to carry the can too. What a great pal he was, fcucked off at the right time and left his mate right in the sh1t.
c@ck.

But according to a BBC report, Ken had managed to win both his previous elections on the second preference count, and those won't be finished until at least midnight says the BBC. :pDT_Xtremez_09:

The BBC is way behind the times in its reports, just as it was last night.
Read my link above to sky. Even with the second preferance count, Ken cannot win.

That can be just hype for all I know. Until actual figures are published it is difficult to believe that this is the case right at the moment, as much as I would like to.

You're right and we will suffer badly over the next 2 years as Gordon holds on until he has to call the election. The difference between now and 11 years ago is that the Tories left the economy in a stable condition - it was sleaze and in-fighting which brought them down. The next Tory government will inherit very similar conditions to those of 1979.

Mr Johnson has won 122,052 votes; Mr Livingstone 40,607 and the Lib Dem candidate Brian Paddick has 17,332.

Apart from the bruising given to Mr Broon, what possible advantage can Boris's win conferr on the rest of the country ?.

Am going to be able to drive in the Capital without charge ? I doubt it!

I was violently sick over my dog a few minutes ago. It was triggered by listening to Boris's speech on Sky news.
Never have I heard a politician kiss so much ass and of a guy not in his own party too ! :pDT_Xtremez_17:

Ken looked like he was going to cry ! :pDT_Xtremez_42:

That was probably why he did it, just to make "Slimy Ken" feel small and uncharitable, and to get him to cry, I don't know why people expect Boris to be reasonable even if he has won the Mayoral election, we all know what he is like and that is why he is where he is now.....

At least he has a tendency to be less than PC and is remarkably entertaining, he might screw everything up, but unlike our beloved PM at least we can have a Laugh while Rome (London) burns.

Give the bloke a chance, he may not be the shining light we are all expecting to see, but he's gonna be worth his salary just for the giggles!

BTW, am I glad I don't live in London, but I do expect to be able to see the mushroom clouds from here and pick up on the smell of outrage after his first gaffe, verbal cock up or miscalculation....:pDT_Xtremez_28:

The trouble is things are very different to 1979. Cameron has already said he cannot cut taxes, etc as Labour have left the cupboard bare!

However is a leader in a job just for his gaffs? People slate Livingstone, but remember he was never a Blair/Brown man and won his first term as an independent. Personally he always had in his heart to do the best for the City he represented (London needs another car in the centre like it needs another gun murder, I never take a car into London for that reason!)

His speech in the aftermath of 7/7 was made from the heart and was Churchillian in its content.

The difference is that as much as "Slimy Ken" was liked and for all of his finer qualities, he wasn't elected this time round, it just seems to me that we KNOW Boris has put on his "serious face" but in all reality, just how long is it going to last?

I've no affiliation either way, but you know how British politics is, and it's bound to happen, it's just that this time we know the guy's track record,if he makes a go of it I say "well done!", but if it all falls to pieces we can at least say not so much " I told you so" as "Boris has done it again, no suprise there!"

Why not? Unless he agrees with all the stealth tax revenue measures of his predecessors that have increased the average tax bill by half. Why is it succesive Governments pick up the balance sheet and say it's not enough after slagging off the previous for spending too much?

I mind we were told to give Tony Blair a chance he had just came into power. Look at what we are now the UK is ****ed, its serioulsey ****ed and i dont think a change of government can get us out of this one now , the damage has been done and if you was a Tory PM coming into power I still dont think you could help. Brown has just had bad timing , glad to see him go when he does but he just got bad with money matters and economy..... hold on he was the main money man , chancellor and nice to see his so called judgement at being good has basically ended his political career , habhahahahhahaha you fnucking cnuty wakner :pDT_Xtremez_25:

Poor Ole London Town

Poor Ole London Town

Now that Londoners have voted Boris in as Mayor of London, I can no longer take the **** out of the Yanks for voting in a gaffe prone, right wing buffoon as their leader; and a load of good it did them.

Now I'm not suggesting that Boris is going to invade Birmingham, but then again, he has already had a pop at Liverpool - f**kwit...

OMG!:0 Boris is my new boss!:pDT_Xtremez_42:
You can see how this will pan out a mile off.
Nice honeymoon period followed by a few gaffs, followed by a lot more, followed by much lampooning in the press until the office of mayor is totally paralised, making London look like a joke city.
