One of the SAC's in the section has just had a workflow notification detailing him to attend a Cpl Further Training Course at Tossford.
Does this now mean that he has been promoted as the Boss has had no notification of promotion.

This seems to be a strange way to do things getting, do you now have to pass a further training course before being considered for promotion????

Is this FT in the same vein as TMT? (Apologies if I'm talking bollox). If so, we've had a couple of newly promoted lads/lasses who did both JMLC and TMT before they were promoted, makes sense I suppose.

did my multi skilling a few years back with a jt who had done jmlc and tmt but still had no official promotion date! same for me i had my tmt and jmlc date's but pma had no indication of an official promotion date:pDT_Xtremez_42:
your best bet is to get your boss to phone your trade desk and try to get some info for you

i got a work flow note to tell me i was on tmt2 last year. spoke 2 the wo he had no indication at all, he did all the ringing and eventually got back to say i'd got promotion. if you get no joy with desk office ring up the course sponser they often know more info about dates and may be more able to tell you info.

*** ALL GOATERS*********better go and check your work flow, we could all be promoted..........:pDT_Xtremez_14:

Harks back to the days of Promex methinks. Just because you were nominated, attended and hopefully passed( I didn't first time) didn't mean promotion. They are just requirements for it.

I had a similar experiance, got a work flow notification for TMT2 and IMLC before any formal notification. Spoke to Career Manager who advised me to speak to boss, 2 days later a signal turned up with offer!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like the same has happend to your mate!

In a nutshell yes, prior to JPA guys in my trade got a signal with a disclaimer at the bottom that FT was a not to be considered an offer of promotion. Of course it's complete rubbish, I'm Cosford is the sane as any other trade training school and they're not going to run courses 'just in case' someone gets promoted. But it's cover-your-arse for the trade managers so of Airman A fails FT they can say well you were not offered promotion anyway!

So we now have the bizarre situation that TG12 candidates can do FT1 or FT2 and will not know officially whether they're promoted until after successful completion of FT. And in 2 cases recently successful candidates off FT2 courses were not promoted because we sent more on the course than there were Sgt vacancies.

It's a brave new world...

That's a poor do!

Whatever happened to the days when the boss & the WO pulled you in & made a big deal of it!

I can't believe that nowadays you might log-on & 'be notified' that you've been picked-up!

WTF!!!

Hang on a bit

Hang on a bit

I thought with the new TG4 structure the new chosen ones needed to do a BT FT type course and become streamed before promotion to CPL?
Does that apply to the IM SACs too?

I know they released a few more names but surely if the sticking point was no recruits in then we need to keep hold of the SACs to make the brews?

Thats a great attitude to have. I'm sure we all signed up to make brews for people.

What I meant was those that actually produce something are what we need to keep hold of. A shift full of old passed over CPLs who are told no promotion as there are no SACs to replace them chewing the fat with a newbie CPL who has delussions of being the way forward is a lot less productive than having a mixed team doing something actually usefull....making brews or fixing stuff!
I meant no offence but accepted my place on the ladder when I was a few rungs down.

Sorry mate, had a few beers and didn't think before I posted. I know what you are saying, sadly there are "members" of the RAF that do think SACs are some sort of slaves and are only there to do the most gash, boring and mundane tasks available.

Off Topic I know, apologies mods.
