Which Console?

Easy question (I hope) - when my Xbox 360 finally gives up the ghost, what should I replace it with?

I'm only an occasional gamer so I don't need the latest super-duper version but I'm thinking PS4 or Xbox One? More importantly, why?

Everyone I've asked who has an Xbox says stay with Xbox as it's familiar and it's backwards compatible but everyone who has a PS4 says it's more than just a console.

Ooh decisions, decisions.

I just can't get my head round people who attempt to alter evolution.
Over thousands of years, we have evolved opposable thumbs to do serious and beneficial things, like flip the lids off Grolsh bottles, or hold a Snooker cue correctly, - even fix mechanical things that arent always broken. There's no need to further enhance the thumb muscles by playing games on consoles 24/7.
That said, spend the money wisely - BEER.

Depends on what your going to be pairing it with. I'm a gamer when my schedule allows and I enjoy having the best kit so that's why I have a PS4 Pro under an LG 4K OLED screen. The only downside to it is that the Pro doesn't come with a 4K Player, it only plays normal Blu-Rays. Games wise the PS enjoys more exclusive titles, especially from Studios who specialise in some fantastic narratives.

6 and two 3s, to be honest. Nintendo does some fun consoles, but the Wii and Switch don't appeal to me. Both Xbox and PS have exclusive games (Halo, Sea of Thieves on Xbox for example). XBox is Microsoft so can be tied in to a PC if you have one, PS has apps via Android that tie it into your phone....

Suppose the best thing would be do decide what kind of games you like to play, and then take a look at what's coming out in the next few months to see if there's a game that's tied to a particular console.

Personally I run a PS4, just cos I prefer it. My lad runs a XBox One, cos he prefers it. They're both very similar.

Just wish I had the nous to play on a console. Never got the hang of the controls

Cheeky, cheeky,cheeky........so my first gaming PC was a Sinclair ZX81; are you saying I'm old????!

Ah, the ZX...

We had one, albeit several years after release, as my dad bought us an Oric Atmos (good 'ol cassette deck gaming - wait an hour for the game to load, only for it to crash in the last 2 minutes...)

I remember marveling at the futuristic capabilities of the C64, with it's mere 3.5" integrated disk drive....

Remember the delights of literally spending days inputting the latest programme only to find you'd missed out a single character somewhere in the thousands of lines of code so it wouldn't work? Happy days indeed!

Having never been on a PlayStation or X box in my life I have to admit I am very impressed. Just bought our kids a Nintendo Switch. We bought them FIFA 18 and it is so realistic the graphic players even move like the real football players (Me being a Man Utd supporter even Pogba on the game has not got a clue- how real is that).

I was one of the first (of a few many thousands) to purchase a Sinclair ZX80. I paid about £80 for the kit and it was a stunning intro to that wonderful world or computers.

I have no interest in gaming. Mrs Seed owns a WII fit thing and a hand-held with two screens with some mind games. Both have no appeal to me. My last "go" on a gaming machine was a grandsons X-Box playing Call of Duty. I couldn't get off the fecking landing craft...

Back to your question, take the advice of those who say "most powerful". I would imagine every games console has different memory and processor power options Also give consideration to the ones who have the monopolies on the games you are more likely to want to play. Does that sound obvious...?

I seem to recall in the film War Games the hero had a Atari flip console. I still remember going down to Stafford town centre and playing the Star Wars and Invaders early Eighties.:S:pDT_Xtremez_37: I'll get my hat.

What, you mean they fall over for no reason, even when there are no other players near them, and walk off gut-wrenching injuries that they apparently obtained from another playing flicking their ear?
