Times online: Never mind our colonial past. Confidence in the Armed Forces is the biggest threat to the special relationship...

It would appear that there are cracks in our "special relationship" between the militaries of the UK and USA and it dont lookgood! :pDT_Xtremez_09:

A better reason to get out of Iraq and into Afghanistan I've yet to see.
Of course, if the bloody Spams hadn't done stupid things with the finance system and borrowed money to lend to suspect US house-buyers, we might be able to AFFORD some more & better kit.

There was never a 'special relationship' we have always been used as an ally in an attempt to legitimise the actions of Big Brother America, and our weak politicians just roll over.

There will never be any pay back for this nation from our aggressive cousins over the pond!

Nearly the perfect post EB. Only a minor adjustment required!!

How quickly they forget.. do they not remember 2003, when old Jacques Chirac vetoed the UN resolution and stuck 2 fingers up to the UN, which essentially ruled out any chance of a peaceful resolution to the Iraq crisis?

That we were one of the few countries to actually send combat troops into Iraq? That we are one of the largest NATO contributors of troops in Afghanistan at the present time? Do they not realise that thanks to their lack of intelligence I can't get a sodding mortgage and will probably be condemned to spend the rest of my life renting?

And what is their view of the combat losses we have incurred because we chose to support them?

We should stick two's up at 'em, pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan right now, and see how quickly Team Merkel and Sarkozy rush their troops to fill the void.....

End of Rant.

And tell the spams that thanks (in part) to their financial incompetence, we cannot afford to join in their war.

Sadly if we did stick the V's up at Uncky Sam then we come out from under the umberella of protection that they provide...If anyone slightly bigger than the isle of Man picked on us in the future because our military strategy for some time now is to compliment the spams for the few things they don't have or have a capability shortage in or we'll be fecked as our military might is diminished to the point of being in all but name a UK defence force...

We are in league with them should we agree with them or not...I've not mentioned NATO as imagine if the sh1t hit the fan and we had to purely depend on that shower to help us...We'd be speaking Russian before they passed the mandate to have a meeting about thinking about coming to our aid...

"Memo: don't rely on the Brits during a battle"

Personally I think the seppos ought to be making the streets of their own cites safe for their own citizens than "policing" failed states.

9/11 killed less than gun crime in the US that year, and every year.

Our security problem is in the likes of Luton-Bradford-Oldham etc etc, maybe more effort from MI5 etc directed there? More effort (very un PC) at our ports and airports and the tracking of certain "citizens" movements will save more lives
than the current strategy.

All very true, but one might think it possible to be a little more firm - publicly - when they drop us in the clag ?

But instead we sack one guy and suspend another guy for being members of the BNP :pDT_Xtremez_26:

I f being a member of the BNP is a sackable offence, then being a supporter of ANY party should be a sackable offence. Even if it is the Monster raving looney" party.

To follow your idea, where is MI5 going to get the cash ? This government won't supply the troops with what they need, MI5 are probably worse off than WE are.

Put it this way when there have been anti-terror raids in Luton shown on TV it's scary that i can pick out the streets where they are in sub 30 seconds. There were 2 raids a fair while in the past that were within 250yard radius of where i used to live.

Luton also had a fair number of pubs where they used to make collections for "the cause".

Good point re party membership! But sacking BNP, or members of ANY party (I find the commie layabouts oops socialist workers just as obnoxious) is the start of a 1 party state.

Got to agree with you. If belonging to a political party is a sackable offence, then why can't we sack the whole of the House Of Commons? BNP is not a banned political party nor a terrorist cell. May not agree with what they say, but if a guy is carrying out their job, then why should their politics have any bearing on their capability to do their job or hold a post in any governmental department.

This is one more incidence of police state by stealth.

Without much stealth!
