Being a new contributer, though having viewed for a while, I thought I should have a little go. All the previous in this thread has been interesting stuff, Honest!
Nevertheless, it is very reassuring to see that even in these dark days of lean, drawdown, JPA, purpling, redundancy etc. etc. that some things stay very much in the traditional mould.
For instance, the Krill also known as Trenchards Brats, Splitbrains, Wheelies, Split ar5e5, Appo scum etc. still live in the belief that, despite all the evidence to the contrary, they are in some way better than those of us who can actually transmit brain function into work, at the hands end of our arms.
Don't get me wrong, they can be usefull "tools!" to send on small detachments as long as you are prepared to accept the risk of a number of screw ups.
Indeed some of this elite band , once they have had a reality chip inserted, can be reasonable human beings. Even if they were promoted on the easy (sumpy) trade boards of yesteryear.
So it is great to see that in the best traditions of the Royal Air Force, that of wheel re-invention, that having binned the Apprentice system, there is now talk of it being brought back. Hopefully this time it will be in a sensible format i.e. training the blerks/dori' rather than giving them two DE courses with lots of marching and PT thrown in.
