Good. I myself always tried to grow a Goatee, A lip warmer or a long droopy porn tache when on leave.

During a bout of extended leave brought about by covering the xmas grant for work, posting and OOA commitment I managed to cease work in mid Dec 2006 and not attend work again until mid Feb 2007
In that time I managed to cultivate a full set which due to lack of barber commitments meant it grew into my hairline giving me what could only be described as a full face hair helmet, the most unnoficial hair/beard growth in my RAF career
When I popped in to work a couple of days before my official return the Chief almost had a heart attack......needless to say I was poster perfect by the following Monday
Now if i get anything up to 3 weeks off I can cultivate a decent heavy stubble/almost beard look purely because I'm off work and can't be arsed to spend the extra time in front of the mirror.

Sweet FA to do with anyonme on your days off as long as you are clean, pressed and ready to roll when back in action. No doubt you will get some fuddy duddys who will quote QRs blah blah blah which is effectively an out-of-date book that hasn't caught up with modern society.

Definitely a must have Im sure its leave law!
I even went to the point of only shaving from halfway down the ear upwards for the full upside down heed look!

Always have a full beard when on leave, and never shave on my 4 off.

I'm currently cultivating my beard as I type. First week of two weeks leave. I find myself stroking my chin a lot. Love having face fuzz when I can.

I had done 3 back to back Afghan jobs and had grown a belter.

Back in Blighty, me and a couple of civvy mates were stood in the bar discussing the world when one asked me how gays had been accepted in the Armed Forces. I told him that nobody really gave a rats as long as they didn't try lifting your shirt. And besides being a 'stout' not particularly handsome chap, what self respecting gay would want to lift mine anyway? This was followed by lots of 'yeah you ugly fat tawt, you are safe' type banter.

Whereupon the barman leans over the counter and says 'actually there are some of us who go for what we call hairy bears, I think Phill Jupitus is absolutely gorgeous lovely and he is the King Bear'.

I could have beaten Usain Bolt in a dead sprint to Boots for razors!

I'm on PODL and you want to see the set of Sideburns I have got going on at the minute

I look like a total botter!

I only shave my face one a week as the beard around my neck sends me nuts, if it didn't I'd be looking like Brian Blessed right now.

Leave is leave, I stay away from work so I don't give anyone the chance to have a go.

The only problem with my beard is it has more white/grey than any other colour

Thats why I don't even bother anymore. If I leave it a few days I look like a tramp. So I've ended up shaving every other day. Thought that by being a civvy I'd get away with it lol

I always thought it was the law not shave on leave, grant or stand downs

It is every Airmans right not to shave when he does not have to.

And if you think leave beards are good, wait till you are on Terminal leave and resettlement etc. I did not shave for 6 weeks prior to going in and doing a bit of light clearing. I also now have sideys. Not that I think they look cool, or even particularly good on me, it is just after having to shave them to a regulation length for 23 years I am now damn well going to have some proper muttons.

As seen on my new avatar, the 'lip monkey' that I am carrying is the result of going into the line hut on 16 Sqn Buccs with a leave beard to check my mail. My WO Harry Walsh gave me a verbal lashing (that was then, such a lovely old gent who I am still in touch with) and told to get the beard off!:pDT_Xtremez_09:

Prior to going back to work my skillfull use of my 'bic' razor shaped the template for the beast that took residence on my top lip for a couple of years. They couldn't tell me to shave it off as the plumber chief Ken Br*wn had a better one. It has been funny over the years on some websites when somebody remembers me from Laarbruch purely on the memory of the tash!:pDT_Xtremez_14:
