Have heard rumours (direct from the Trade Specialist mouth himself, so must be pukka gen!!) that they want 50 this year.

Seeing as they went in to the high 30's/low 40's last year it seems plausible.

No expecting anything anymore - that said I have just been offer a 2 year extension, so figuring they want to keep me as a Cpl and not a Sgt !!

I've heard it will be ratified tomorrow by my Sqn Ldr. Not sure when the lottery numbers will be revealed though!

If you didn't get asked to sign on for 24 years at your 20 year point then I think you have no chance of getting promoted.

Manning confirmed last week at Cosford the trade is seriously messed up and will take years to rectify itself, currently every rank is being signed on past their supposed longest engagement.

SAC to 22
Cpl to 24 (just signed)
Sgt to 32

90SU is carrying a lot of gaps and the bosses has been to manning last week to get it sorted, I am sure the rest of the Air Force is in a similar position but there are well into double figures who are A/Sgt and the same that are currently gapped.

50 Predicted, 20 rumoured to be release immediately and FYI the board was delayed and actually started on Mon the 11th and NOT Weds the 6th as scheduled.

90SU rumour, just heard that even though board has finished everybody wont find out until Monday at earliest.

Slightly off topic, but...

Amazed they still get away with such a huge waste of public money. Average those wages out and that's £150k they're spunking on what is basically an E1 role.

Not to mention destroying the morale of those doing it!

There is a reason why these jobs aren't solely civvies, unfortunately these low level admin jobs are filled by lazy job for life civil servants who don't answer to anybody and have more sick days than we take annual leave.

So it makes more sense to chuck £150k a year at the problem? Could have 8 E grades in there for that.
