Nimrod MR4 Delayed Again

From BBC News Website: clicky

"The deployment of the new Nimrod MR4A to RAF Kinloss will not happen until the end of this year, it has emerged.

The delay was confirmed by the Ministry of Defence in a parliamentary answer to local MP and SNP defence spokesman Angus Robertson.

The aircraft is due to replace the 30-year-old MR2, grounded in March.

Dozens of jobs have already been lost at RAF Kinloss due to the withdrawal of the MR2, which was taken out of service a year early.

The MoD had previously said that the new MR4A aircraft would arrive at the Moray airbase during the summer."

What's the hold up?

Possibly because they keep laying off all the connies to save money.

No connies equals no work done.

Connies make the world go round don't you know :pDT_Xtremez_14:

Now that'd be a novelty. Aircrew sweeping the hangar.................! :pDT_Xtremez_31:

Not aircrew the chat I had was with an young airman whose sweeping skills had been improved by regular practice.

...hehehe...

I remember, in the Mess bar at Mt Pleasant, a 'seasoned' self-loading-growbag explaining to an RSM that he'd gone through 16 weeks of hard training to get into the Mess...

When he woke up, he wondered what he'd said.

Not a real SNCO? Bet when he checks his ID and payslip any confusion is soon cleared up. Oh and16 weeks training? Really? 18 months minimum before getting on an OCU for those that don't have massive holds more like. Two and half years before I get my brevet and it'll be worth it. Thinking back to the structures bay at Marham keeps me clear on that! I'm due to go on the nimrod... who knows.
