Just found this graphic illustration of how much money, albeit dollars is in a Billion. Even giving the differences between US Billion and UK Billion, a Hundred Blats is a hundred Blats.

http://www.pagetutor.com/trillion/index.html

A Billion Blats is a lot of Cash.

A Trillion is mind Boggling.

How much do we owe?????

As for The United States debt as of March 2009:

Now that is one credit card bill!

We sitched to the American standards for billions in 1974, so 1billion is equal to 1000 million. Still a shed load of money.

Sat on an OP once bored....Worked out that if you earned £1 a second it would take you about 12 days to earn a million.

However to get a Billion pounds would take approx 36 YEARS!!!

If you stacked the $100 bills up and up, one trillion dollars would get to about 80,000 ft.

If you had a physically huge piece of thin paper, say cigarette paper thickness. Tore it in half and put the two pieces one on top of the other - tore the pile in half - put the two piles one on top of the other - ... - repeat this exercise 50 times. How high would the pile be?

2 to the power of 50 times higher than the thickness of the original sheet of cigarette paper?

Hmm, looks like about 225,179,981 Km :pDT_Xtremez_35:

or, to the moon 592-odd times.
Doing it with $100 bills is not as big. The bill is 0.1mm thick, so that's 10,000 per meter.

The Moon is about 380,000 KM away, so that's about
380000000000.00
100-dollar bills.

This works out to about 380 trips to the Moon. (190 round trips)/

A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
A billion Pounds ago was earlier this morning for Gordon Brown
