Right, that's it. I can take the pikeys and chavs being given benefits for fcuk all. I can take the country turning to ****. I can take the chronic underfunding of HM forces while we are being tasked well beyond our means.

But.. I have access to guns you know, and if you p1ss about with my pint glass for no other reason than you can and you are a bunch of interfering tw@ts then i may have to use them.

I'm beginning to understand why US postal workers go on a killing spree at a frighteningly regular interval!

You can only, "Take it from the man", for so long!

If ever there was a reason to man the barricades, messing with a mans pint is it!

I read this bit and thought whoever is behind this idea is obviously numb beyond belief. Take away a 'one shot' glass and replace it with....a pewter tankard!! Ffs give the lad a club!

"Remember that years ago people used to drink out of pewter tankards. It could be quite a significant paradigm shift."

Control, control, control. Makes me sick!

I can see the point in some of the popular boozers and clubs in town, but in your quiet local? I think not.

Glass

Glass

It has to be glass.

Yet again the "British disease" of wanting to hurt each other with pint glasses/bottles probably has a lot to do with this.

Max Str here in Augsburg is always busy, full of clubbers/drinkers, but never do you hear of anyone being hurt with the beer glasses/bottles.

In fact, the last time I heard of this, it was in the local Irish bar & this was Inselnaffen on Inselnaffen (Brit on Brit)

Look at the Octoberfest and all those glass steins....even during the "Italian period" does rarely anyone get hurt.

Doubtless spoken by a "I only drink from the bottle", pseudo-smart eejit living in a strange world.
So lets all try pewter tankards, then.

PS. I used to like the Dimpled pint glass. It was easier to throw. . . .

They changed to straights because they were easier to stack!

But the dimpled glass was much better you could get some umph behind one of them.

I don't mind plastic when I go to the dark little grimey studenty pubs with live music or nightclubs. Mainly places where people are likely to be dancing and not have anywhere to put a glass so they end up smashed on a floor.

But to enforce it upon smaller pubs is a ridiculous idea!

What about restaurants?

It just shows what sort of bollox this country has come to where you have to drink out of plastic cups in a pub. In my 22 years of being a legal regular boozer I haven't seen a single person glassed in any pub around the world. however, I have seen someone on many occasions pull out a knife......now thats the **** you want to be tackling.

Leave the glasses in pubs ffs and just legally issue the bar staff with baseball bats and a minimum force rule to sort out trouble makers.

couldn't they just make beer glasses that just shatter on impact rather than break into shards? Problem solved!

how about the country just goes back to serving beer in tankards? obviously they would all have to have glass bottoms when comrade Brown reinstates the press gang but apart from that it would stop the glassing and they are more durable in the dish washer. Bonus!!

1. Putting beer into plastic pint pots makes the beer poisonous. Also the plastic imparts "gay genes" into the pint.

2. I have a habit of "borrowing" nice pint glasses. Plastic ones look crap and are hardly worthy of my kleptomaniac tendancies.

Tough question this!
If you asked me several years ago if I would like to drink beer poured from a can I would have spat in your face. Years later and plenty of dedication and research has allowed the taste buds to accept this previously impossible brew recepticle!
I have seen the results of one or two glassings over the years. I have to fall on the side of the fence that if you can prevent numpty nuts from shoving his glass in someones face after too many wife beaters or equivalent strong potion, then I have to say lets get used to it and move on to another arguement!
An old local of mine had to have plastic glasses as part of his late license and I have to say I couldnt tell the difference. Except the plastic didnt feel as cold in your hand. They're quite robust too, not the flimsy types you used to get at beer festivals etc.

Oh and plastic's not as slippery as the glass becomes after 8 pints!

A broken plastic glass can still cause a lot of damage although you have to break it before hand with a bit more effort.

When I was working in bars before i joined up, they were bringing a smash-proof pint glass into force. The whole thing shatters if someone trys to break them, and you are left with hundreds of small particles of glass everywhere instead.

As far as i remember, the girls then lodged a complaint about them, because they would cut their feet after they took their heels off cos their feet hurt.

Either way, some people were going home covered in blood :pDT_Xtremez_30:
