Serious thread here folks, do you think that you would make a good mod? and if so - why?

In light of recent events only serving or Ex-members will be considered, but here's your chance to sell yourself by saying why YOU would be a good mod. Any other comments will be deleted.
Over to you.

Are you looking for mods? If so I think I could, and would be willing to do it. I'd rather post nothing, than meaningless crap, and I've stayed out of pointless squabbles. I'd be more than happy to give up my spare time for the goat.

I think, first & foremost, you need people who are committed to the Goat and who will give a balanced and fair view on any topic whether they agree with it or not. There are a lot of people who are on here day in day out, some input interesting debate others like to debate the weather. I don't know any of these individuals personally but my suggestions would be TBJ, LQ & SB. Mostly their input is fair and reasoned and with some humour to boot; don't know if they would be interested or qualify (is their any criteria?) but those 3 for your starters and as I say, I do not know these guys other than through the Goat.

I think the ability to not be influenced by others and remain emotionally detached when evaluating if something has crossed the line would help.

I'd volunteer to help out if needed.

I'm a superhuman JNCO fairy, gifted with an amazing sense of right and wrong. I shy not from telling people things as I see them, and will not stand for bullying of any sort.

At the same time I've got a wicked sense of humour, and have been involved with the goat for nearly 18 months. I suscribe and donate, I can't do anymore to support the online community thats grown at the moment.

I post when I've something to say, and try not to judge people on first glance (ILLBW excepted, hes a chopper). I can chat about aircraft history, or the size of Gemma Atkinsons...personalities.

EDIT: Having read about all the problems Wobbly is facing, I'm more keen than ever to help out. This site is a fantastic tool, its helped me out in no end of problems. I want it to continue, more and more newcomers to the RAF seem to be using this site to gain help on entry, and for that alone I'll offer any help I can. I take responsibilities very seriously, as you'd hope from a techie chalks, and would like to give something back to the site.

I think I'd be a good mod for various reasons.

Firstly, I'm very level headed and always view situations with a cool appraisal and never jump in feet first without checking facts.

I've posted solidly now for a few years and have never had my wrist slapped by any of the mods or admins.

I'm a well respected tradesman and SNCO.

I would shrink the goat to just the pigs bar and birds forums.

I would actively recruit more nubile women with loose morals onto the site and evict some of the old growlers.

I would make sure that ever thread had at least one picture of a massive set of jugs in it.

I would tirelessly campaign to make the membership of the goat for women to include having their back doors smashed in.

I would ensure that anyone who bleats or whinges about any thread in the pigs bar be pistol whipped and given a gypsies warning....

I here by offer my most sincere services to the goat and hope that I be promoted to the rank of moderator.

I would be a good mod because...

I would be a good mod because...

I am old enough to remember Phantoms.

I am young enough to work with Typhoons every day.

I have worked in both the Ops and Staff world and can see both sides of the fence.

I am not afraid to seek the wise counsel of others.

I can tell it like it is, am not afraid of confrontation and have 18 or so years of engrained cynicism to fall back on.

I can deploy emergency banter at the drop of an eyelid.

I am also from an under-represented trade group on here looking for some equality in a techie dominated world.

I can spell! (No you can't - see correction below)

(I also know a little bit about computers and web stuff but not in a nerdy way!)

Edit: Sorry, couldn't resist! MM :)

Edit Again: T'was a correctly spelt word, just in the wrong place! ::D:

If we're being serious I'll throw my hat into the ring. Mrs TBJ can vouch for my commitment to the goat and I try to be fair and objective in any discussion I get involved in (which seems to be most of them!). I have a fair idea how much work goes in behind the scenes and it doesn't put me off.

I understand the reasons for limiting this to serving and ex-serving members but I wonder if exceptions could be made for LQ, SB and AW if they are interested?

Off Topic HS, thanks for your support. Although we have never met face-to-face you do know me. :pDT_Xtremez_15:

To save me explaining to anymore posters this thread is designed and only to be used for people who want to tell us why THEY want to be a mod and the reasons for that belief...It's not here as a potential supporters club for other members...

If the Goat's short of Mods, I'd be pleased to assist. Check out previous posts to help you decide!

I would like to think that I meet all the criteria. I would be happy to help.

I am a serving member of Her Majesty's Royal Air Force at JNCO level. (15 yrs experience)

I have alot of experience with Pooter's/lapdog's.

I would like to think that I have a cracking sense of humour, fair and impartial to other peoples thoughts and belief's. Know when to keep quiet and/or speak out.

I have the patients of saints (ask Mrs SD)

I have been on this site for a year now and I firmly believe that it should go on. It is a site where you can ask for help and get it. We are a fountain of knowledge, collectively speaking.

Seems that this thread has been 'cleaned up' somewhat.
At times I agree with what the the mods have to do and it does seem a painstaking process, so no sucking (hahahahaha sucking!!!!) up from me, only that if I were to be given the hallowed position(hehehehe position) then I would only hope to carry on as others have done and not suck (hehehehehehehe suck!!!!!) like a newbie!!!!!!

Anyway back to my Stella and red wine chaser!!! hic!!!

Without knowing the full ins and outs of it, I believe that I could do the job of a Mod and do it well.

That said..........

I dont read every thread, there are subjects that hold no interest for me. I expect that there are forums we are assigned to look after, do we get an option? If not then I could still do the job but I'd not do it well as I wouldnt be enjoying it.

I spend every night on the web for a varying amount of time and its unusual for me not to spend some of that time on the goat, so commitment of time isnt an issue for me. The only time I'd struggle is when I go to my other halfs house as she currently doesnt have net access.

I can be overbearing but thats human nature, more often than not I'm level headed enough to talk sense. (Of course, thats subjective!) To that end when there was some dissension amongst the rank and file on here lately, I was complimented on my response. So it cant be all bad.

To my knowledge I've managed to be on here for over two years without upsetting anyone, well not too much anyway.

So I think the real question isnt "Do you think you'll make a good Mod?" but more "Would you want the job of being a Mod?". Like I said before I'd need to know what would be expected of me before I make any commitment.

(Is that a better way of saying "I'd need to see the TOR's before I commit")

After teaching the Thread starter everything he knows,:pDT_Xtremez_42: and being his deviant role model for years:pDT_Xtremez_14: , there is only one option.

Pick me!:pDT_Xtremez_30:

I'd like to have a go at this. I watch the Goat every day (yes I have a life as well). I post when I think I need to, and think I am fair in my outlook on life. I have been in the RAF for a few years (1986), so think I have a good grasp on both past and present. Well there you go, that's me.

Due to the fact I look like a 30 year old Gem and just as big a deviant I feel I would be more than able to carry out my MOD duties.:pDT_Xtremez_30:

So I would be more than happy and willing to carry out the task.
