After my post on the vacuum cleaner thread and the thread on the summer of 76 it made me go a bit misty eyed about the things we took for granted that have gone

  1. Alpine Pop delivery lorry
  2. Mann's Beer delivery lorry
  3. Park rides such as the 'Witches Hat' and the 'Rocking Horse' and huge slides with a little caged area at the top.
  4. TISWAS, Swap Shop, WDY, Flashing Blades, Flash Gordon, Chopper Squad, CHiPs etc
  5. Playing army or Cowboys and Indians in the street with replica weapons
  6. Playing outside!
  7. The local Bobby!
  8. Amstrad Tower Hi - Fi's

Monty python flying circus.

Fast forwarding a cassette just to listen to one song.

Sticking the microphone in front of the radio to record songs from the top 30 countdown on a Sunday afternoon o a crappy cassette recorder.

I have fond memories of having more hair and less tummy..

Also remembered fondly from bygone times are:

  • · Listening to Al Beswick during his time on red rose radio
  • · Having a crush on Sally James (Tiswas)
  • · The characters on Steve Wright (“Easy Life”, it makes me so Angry etc!)
  • · TOTP
  • · People in the block wanting to meet up in the bar, socialise, drink beer, hit nightclubs, and it being OK to have a one night stand with an ugly bird
  • · Being able to do stupid stuff without someone sticking it on SnapFaceTubeItter
  • · Wendy James from Transvision Vamp
  • · Women had curves in gentlemens mags
  • · Suzanna Hoff (Bangles)
  • · Gregory’s Girl
  • · Emmanuelle, Devil in Miss Jones, Confessions of a XXXXX series.. real looking curvey women, no tattoo’s, no implants !
  • · MD20/20
