Same here. Whilst in the past, I was always happy for a bit of redundancy to open up promotion; we usually had enough volunteers. This time, with compulsory redundancies, I'm surprised that promotion has been so buoyant, surely losing 20% of our WOs would stop promotion.
Makes you think if we've actually lost the posts yet; in which case expect a much slower promotion trickle in the next few years.

Considering that the letter sent by the TS (or BS) not so long ago identified quite a few Sgt & Cpl posts to be 'lost' there are quite a few puzzled faces around by the ommission of Sgt's & Cpl's from the redundancy list. I can only assume many will be lost through natural wastage and PVR! Not that surprised with WO & FS's but the numbers were higher than I thought they might be; not looking forward to 12 Jun!

However, I was told that they are targetting the WOs & FSs to give those further down the food chain something to stay in for - apparently very few of these posts are actually being disestablished and will be filled by promotees.
My source was someone who is paid to know things like this!
So, for those with aspirations to reach FS & beyond, todays announcement has increased your chances. For those of us that had pretty much spent their redundancy pot in their head, there's little left to look forward to apart from bi-annual fitness tests and increased DWRs!

Tell you what Mutty, if I was a compulsory FS or WO, and then found out that they had not disestablished as many posts as they had made redundant, I would not be happy. It begs the questions, is it redundancy or the sack??

Have to agree with you. Like I said, in the past, we always had volunteers so it was never a problem. I suppose a FOI question come 2015 would be the way ahead, to see just how many WO/FSs we had pre redundancy and post redundancy. If the difference per rank is less than the figure made redundant then I suppose you could presume you were sacked. Pure speculation though

I'm sure if you took the numbers of WOs & FSs that will no longer be based at Leuchars, Cottesmore, Kinloss and Lyneham, then you'll have a reduction that would be used in any FOI Request. What it seems to me is that they have chopped them immediately (10 of each went on 1 Sep), and will then chop again at the odd post, whilst disregarding that there will also be natural wastage between now and 2015.
I was also told today that they had reached No 7 or 8 on the FS-WO board already (apparently this is quite rare), and the future is bright for those remaining!

The last round demonstrated how opaque the criteria were.
After getting ping i asked why i had a skill score of zero, turns out they only considered first line q's for TG1. I have no doubt in my mind they will do the same this time and this time the brackets are a sh1t load wider

What, are you mad? God forbid the integrity of our Manning TG17 be questioned in such distain. Would I think for one moment they would 'bend' the rules or push the boundaries to help one of their own? Fcukin dead right I would!!!!!

Sorry if you think it's a load of crap i'm speaking purely from my point of view being TG1.
The list of Q's sent to me focused on what was valid for TG1 and personally i couldn't give a toss if you think what i say is rubbish. All of my workplace saw the emails(direct from manning) including management who then had to go to the trade sponsor and ask that weighting be given to our specialist Q's. This also happened to TEMPEST. So in this case wind your neck in.
WTF are you doing here if your are TG1?
