Well, well, looks like Mystic Megs SDSR predictions are coming true...

Up to 1,000 soldiers are being sent to Army recruitment offices after a privatised service to attract new personnel ran into difficulties.

Many of the soldiers are returning to roles vacated by troops only last year when the Ministry of Defence awarded Capita a £440 million contract to run the service.

One officer in the Territorial Army, which is struggling to attract new recruits, described the situation as “madness”. Another military source said the term “strategic failure” was being used.

So replacing a highly engaged, experienced, pool of people who have a can do attitude with some profit centric contractor didn't provide the right outcome, well there's a surprise.

Having worked in recruiting a couple of times I don't think the extra work, long hours and some times stressful environment was fully understood by those on high.

It can't be true.
The Tories tell us that private sector- good.
Public sector- bad.
Repeat the mantra.

Why must I politicise a political decision, erm.....?

Don't trouble yourself that yet another asset has been farmed out because of ideology doesn't work. Lets keep doing it then!

It was a process and economic decision, and it didn't work because the contractee, your precious public sector, has all the wit, foresight, intelligence and motivation of a 43 year old asthmatic Johnston paints league full back.

It didn't work because the govt gave something that worked in public hands to a private company that thought it could make a quick buck through an inferior service.

The can be said down low as well, every time I mention that I worked in an AFCO the first thing people say is "that's a cushy nimber isn't it". I feel I'm always explaining that just because I enjoyed the job and was willing to work the extra hours didn't make it cushy.

So, taking a trained soldier away from the job that he's trained for and putting in the AFCO makes better sense than putting a full time civilian HR specialist in there, does it? Is that why the local Jobcentre is run by welders?

Yes, because one worked and one hasn`t.

Most Job Centres are filled with lacklustre civil servants who have a job for life.

As you know I'm in hossy having Chemo,so I had to go onto ESA now.Anyway,I got a letter from the job center today saying they've signed me up for a back to work scheme & if I'm not working in 8 weeks,I'll be brought in for an interview to explain why I'm not looking for work.....FFS,I'll be lucky if I'm working in a year if I'm lucky!
You couldn't make this sh1t up!

Spike: ignore them f***wits, you have more pressing things to deal with. Keep your spirits up mate

Better still, get a letter from your doctor explaining your situation, photocopy it and send them a bloody copy then they can argue the toss with him. Feckin' wankers the lot of em regardless of which country you live in I once had a claim for workers compensation disputed by my employer with the result that the workers comp' board wouldn't pay out. My doctor sent a letter to my company threatening to sue them for defamation for disputing his diagnosis as they were intimating that he was incompetent, I received my first cheque from the WCB three days after the company got his letter. I think I actually heard the back peddling in the company office and I lived ten miles out of town.

I've recently fallen foul of Capita! I'm attempting to join, I had a medical recently which is now sub contracted out to Capita as well ( baring in my my current job requires me to have a medial in January then every year) and the doctor diagnosed me with 3 conditions my own GP and Occupational Health have missed/ignored or don't exist! It's no surprise when they get to an additional £50 for each "casework" they generate at the medical stage of recruitment.

Further more I had an RAF medical by RAF Docs not so long ago and they never picked up these "conditions"!

I hear its "the norm" at the moment they are TMU-ing loads of recruits if there is even the sniff of something wrong.

I can assure you that Civil Servants having a job for life is no more.

It is now much easier to get rid of a Civil Servant, especially the junior grades.
