Dunno what with Schapps has recently announced a reduction in the Army as they have a "can do attitude". Don't get me wrong we take the p$ss out of them all day long, but as infanteers they are bloody good at their job and a lot more dependable than other nations. How the hell can we prepare for war when we are reducing numbers and capability.

Not a hope conscription will come back short of a full on Russian style invasion of Ukraine by someone like Germany or France...

The list of objections on moral / medical / ethical / religious grounds would be enormous, let alone any litigation or lawsuits.

The ability of people to "do as their told" for the good of everyone has severely diminished. Take the example of the plane crash in Japan the other week, the plane was fully evacuated before becoming a fireball because EVERYONE on board did as requested, when requested, and left all belongings. If that plane was full of UK 20 -25 yr olds and crashed at Heathrow or Faliraki I doubt that would have happened...
