Tin Basher is right. Pension Increases (PIs) can only be paid immediately in three circumstances:

- if your pension is an invaliding pension;

- if you claim a preserved/deferred pension early on the grounds of permanently ill-health which prevents full time work; and

- if you die your family's pensions are index linked immediately irrespective of your age or theirs.

Otherwise, those leaving with an Immediate Pension have to wait until age 55 for the PIs which have accrued since they retired.
