Calling all Administrators

Do you have any old course photographs? and are you able to scan and upload them to a computer? Would you be willling to let us save them for the generations of administrators to come. (few as they might be)

Vicki Bannister at RAFSA looking for electronic copies of any Admin (Sec)/Pers (Spt)/TG17 course, especially basic branch/trade training course photos to establish an electronic photo gallery archive representing the former students of Hereford, Halton, Southwick Park, and if possible RAF Ruislip and Stannington.

Please e-mail copies to: Sgt Vicky Bannister, rafsa-sncopab2@southwickfus.afpaa.mod.uk (non RAF mail) or SPK DCPA-RAFSA PAB SNCO 2 (RAF Mail). Ideally, please send the photo with details including the name of the course and the intake dates (approximate dates will help if memories have faded). Detail of students pictured would also be appreciated where known.

Vicky's idea of porn always was a bit odd!

I gave my Hereford photo to my girlfriend of the time so that will have been burned a long time ago - I would be interested in getting a copy if possible.

How far back is Vicky hoping to go? Has she tried the Air Hysterical Branch? Those photos should be in the F540 and I know the AHB have been busy scanning every photo in their archives for the last few months.

Thanks for the interest guys. In answer to your questions

Hopefully when we get the archieve together you will be able to get copies of your course. We will put the courses we have on the RAFSA website and these forums.

True Blue Jack: We are going to contact the Air Historical branch next week but after speaking to the photogs it appears the AHB only get the images from a station when it closes if the photog section was military, we belive the course photgraphs from Hereford were done by a civilian contractor and as such they would not have been sent to the AHB when Hereford closed.
If anyone can confirm this we would be grateful.

I am sure I have still got my course photo from Hereford. Not sure I want to look at it again after nearly 20 years, might get depressed.

Will be scanning/emailing my course photo later this week - there are (surprisingly) still 6 of the original course still in.

Edit: Scary photo sent to Vicky (and yes, I mean the old course photo!) with names of the guilty attached (well, the ones I could remember!)

Don't know what is happening with the RAFSA website - my course photo is on there (PANDA 37) - of the 13 of us 6 are still in (one a drafter, one a zob) - however I know of at least one other photo that has been sent that has not yet been incorporated into the site.

She might want to have a chat with Terry Knight on the RAF Hereford Facebook page. He was RAF then a civvy instructer sticking with Admin Training right up to it going over to Halton and then some. I seem to recall he said he had pictures of every course he'd taught as he always organised them himself.

They were taken by Viv's Of Hereford (I think) who are no longer in business but may still have an archive.

There are a fair amount of course pix and various others but be aware there are 2 different RAF Hereford Facebook pages. Our most recent useful addition was a map of the camp with all the buildings and blocks named.

The P&A course I was on (2nd course to pass out a Pers Admin) never had a course picture done. I remember most of Hereford, I don't ever recall a course photo call.
