Maybe MOD Procurement should follow the mantra - "Never fly the Mk1 of anything" and "Never BUY the Mk1 of anything"???

Not like the good old days when we bought the Mk1, then the Mk2 etc. and no one else had any better versions...

RAF Phantoms fitted with Rolls Royce Spey's there is previous for this type of complicated and capable situation
