Leeds CIO 21 Feb 1978, Swinderby the next day. Joined up and went through training and first posting with a guy called Mick Noad (sadly deceased a short while ago RIP).:PDT_Xtremez_26:

Joined up when?

Joined up when?

Oct 23rd, 79. That place in Aberdeen, Belmont Street if I remember correctly. WAAF officer did the business for us, and hat on too:PDT_Xtremez_30:

What was it then?

What was it then?

Liverpool CIO, November 18th 1986 with DodgySootie, we got the train to Swinderby and met Sumps who ended up as our senior man on our Mechs course APM 101.

Always remember travelling back upto Liverpool in DodgySootie's white escort Mk1 which he bought for £50. A right shed but it never let us down.

*********************************

As already mentioned.

Despite being a Jock (like WingBoy, only im not a Highlander) my last few years of schooling was in the North West because of my dads job. We bought a house in a little village on a hill between StHelens & Wigan (Stuck between the wooleybacks & the pieaters!!!!)

Ive never remembered the Street that Liverpool CIO was in, although I can still picture it, so come on Wobbly what was the name, and what was next door Wimpeys/MaccDs/BK??

I remember one lad who lived close to Whiston Hospital, but more on the StHelens side who joined as a Painter&Finisher. After Swinditz we went our merry ways and I bumped into him in with two weeks left in the Mob for me (12 7mths later) how bizzare eh!

Only seems like yesterday I heard the call of "FLASH" and we would all be rolling down that hill, our faces in the ground.

Glasgow CIO 27 Oct 97. Nuff said.:PDT_Xtremez_42: Only a measly 12 years still to do for the pension. By that point we should have got rid of the legacy TG3 kit and really become TG4 network disabled. Nah...Can't see it meself!

For the record.

Even though I ended up in a Rugby League stronghold. I never gave up on Rugby Union....Scottish Borders man Heartland of Scottish Rugby...well it was...Weegieland now ::P:

Sorry. I know off topic.

10th June 1975, I had to take a 1 & 1/2 hour bus trip to Woverhampton COI to get my £5!
On completing Swinditz I was expecting to go to St Athan for Rigga training and got train Warrants to "Halton".?
So I looked it up and found it was near Liverpool!!

It's been like that ever since....

My Dad joined in 1971 and did his basic training at RAF Swinderby, not sure if he actually did his attestation there or whether it was at the Hull AFCO. He ended up going to Halton a year or so later for further training whilst based at Bicester where my sister was born.

My partner did his attestation on Wed 23rd Jan this year at Halton where i believe they do all attestations these days so ill be doing mine there too in a few months hopefully.

December 1989 my mum sent me out for a pint of milk and a loaf of bread.
Wandered into the CIO at Dundee and I've been stuck ever since.

Chatham, 26th March 1985, next day train from Kings Cross to Newark North Gate, a few beers on the way, a bit of larking about, one of the lads called another a b@stard (in jocular fashion) then this SD hat with peak pointing vertically downwards:PDT_Xtremez_17: screamed "the only b@stard around here is me!":PDT_Xtremez_42: and so it began.:PDT_Xtremez_19:

I didn't realise there were so many old people on here !

Swansea CIO in Jan 96 for me, next day I took the train to London where I met Hammer and Stilson on the Wendover train, If I recall correctly he was wearing something wacky like a Bermuda shirt !

Off Topic Knowing H&S to be a dodgy scouser he probably nicked it!!!:PDT_Xtremez_31:

Sunderland CIO for me but had to go to Scumcastle to attest, then again I did get £50 in my hand although I subsequently found out it was an advance, spent it in the 'Toon' on the lash with the 2 other lads that signed up the same day 08/01/1991 think they were L Tech TC

Sunderland CIO has since closed down and is one of those fancy coffee shop type things nowadays, what the fcuk it's doing in Sunderland I don't know

Must have been on the same intake as me then "rodger melly the man with the Beret":PDT_Xtremez_14:

Joined the army at Leeds office in Jan 93 - place is a strip club now!

http://www.blue-leopard.com/ - warning prob not IGS friendly!

Joined the RAF in Leeds too at the new AFCO, attested at Halton March 2000.
