As per the title guys, due to leave next year (April) and been offered a fantastic job to start in December.

My Sqn won’t release me to take the job, so I’ll be losing the offer. MWT for my trade is 12 months.

Has anybody successfully managed to get out before their MWT when their CofC says no?

I’m in a non specialised role so it’s really frustrating I’m going to lose this opportunity.

I should mention I’ve done 24 years of service and signed onto LOS 30

Hmmmmmmm...Don't have anything here M8 but legal route but that could take a while and be counter-productive a la finances. Got no experience in this area. Hopefully your CoC will see the light and realise that all they are going to do is PEE U OFF rather than you leaving on good terms. But most of today's CoC don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. The few good ones in the CoC who do care are marginalised and maligned. GOOD LUCK in the future!!

Thanks buddy. I appreciate there’s always a service need but the impact to me not getting this job is huge.

It’s really sad when you have given all those years to the RAF and they can’t even help you out towards the end.

Yes, quite a few people.

Get your job offer printed off, speak to your CM and if no joy, escalate, escalate, escalate - get an appt with OC PMS/HR/Chf Clk - whatever they are called this week and threaten legal action - make as much noise as you can. Padre, Welfare, SSAFA etc - you have a job offer, but for the sake of 4 months your Sqn are being (imo) unreasonable.

I've seen several people initially refused to leave, but with a job offer to hand, there is a chance the Sqn decision may be reversed.

I've not heard of anyone being made to stay these days, in fact I signed paperwork to release one of my sets of denims for a job just last week. He submitted his application to change his pvr date with the written job offer and we signed off saying we could let him go.

Do they still have the AOC Formal Inspection ?

Everybody had the right to see the AOC on the inspection day to put forward a grievance that they had.

Once the Gen App had gone in the wheels were set in motion to try and talk you out of the application, mainly because the commissioned CoC didn't want to be stood in front of a 2* Officer explaining their decisions.

It is a very brave officer that puts their career in jeopardy for the sake of 3 or 4 months of someone else's early termination.

Think you’re right. Probably best to go sideways rather than upwards. It’s knowing the best direction to go in regarding who to speak to.

Ultimately manning are always happy, the CofC has to support it. I get it, they have to gap the post but I feel personally I’ve far more to lose.

Dont those who have done 22 years get to only do 6 months nowadays? Or could you use yor terminal, resettlement & annual leave to leave 4 months early and work for "ahem" free for your new employer?

Failing that, fail your fitness test!

Did exactly that. On paper I left in June in reality my last working day was in March.

Bit extreme taking drugs or failing fitness test, but needs must I suppose!

Is apr 23 your exit date or start of your terminal etc? AS MWD mentioned above you can start work during resettlement/terminal leave - depends if you have enough leave etc. When you factor all that time in the sqn may be quibbling over 1 month as oppose to 4.

Start to look at your boss in a way that only a man can...ask him regularly to wear tighter trousers and leave doodles of you going at him hammer and tongues around the crewroom.

The above is sound advice for an early exit and should be followed verbatim.
