Another ex Army General wants cuts to the Navy and RAF but wants money pumped into Land Forces.

Why are these people so short sighted and only care about their own service, and why don't the ex-RAF Air Ranks get on here and speak up for us.

A very good point, but even if the Treasury got their way and the RAF was homogenised into the AAC, they would still have to pay for Typhoons, C17s et all.
We may end up purple, but the expenditure won't change much, these things still cost the same.
Before someone bleats on about a reduced hierachy, that's not really going to change much and the savings would be minimal anyway.

If the Army push for a smaller Navy and RAF to improve their lot in the short term, they are not really looking over the horizon.

A reduced total force would put greater pressure on the Army as there would be less other Arm support units spare to help them out and take their share of the workload.

By the way did any else hear Gutherie state that the Army are the Senior Service now! Pompus or what.

Guthrie really should check his history books and learn the meaning behind the words "Senior Service". What a complete @rse.

What the head sheds and people like Guthrie SHOULD be doing is stopping this idiotic bickering and stand united together so that NO SINGLE SERVICE loses out.

Absolutely pathetic leadership.

I've had a looky over on ARRSE and they seem to have the same kind of attitudes as us goaters on this subject.

Effectively the thought paths are this, starve the RAF and the Navy and the Army will become the service that suffers the most.
