Rumour has it that the trade will soon cease to exist.

On good authority i've heard that plans and studies are underway of the most effective way to assign Int Corps personnel into our slots. This study is involving both RAF and Army officers and has the eventual aim of disbanding the Int trade within the RAF as part of the greater plan to merge the RAF with the other two services.

So the ladies and gents, you ready to hand your blues in for combats and change your beret colour

Well if the Int people can't see this kinda thing coming then what chance have the rest of us relatively unintelligent folk got? :pDT_Xtremez_35:

Its news to us, and we have a good few Int Corps people out here.

They would be the first one's to start stiring if there was any truth in it. Lets hope not though eh? I've met the odd very good one but more often than not, they are pretty sh1t, and at times scary with the stuff they come out with.

Even our least capable trade and branch personnel will shine if this happens; and finally the British Army as a whole may start to take the Green Slime more seriously.:pDT_Xtremez_30:

Point of note here......if they intend to merge our Int specialisation with the Int Corps, surely that means we will have to bring all the RAFP CI guys as well?? We as a trade and branch apparantly don't do CI, but I argue we can and very well when not being stabbed by the black-red-black, so if this is more than a rumour, maybe it means two things:

1). The Int Corps as is will leave the professional intelligence work to those of us willing to merge so they can do what they do best - security...or,

2). We will be bringing some of our RAFP bretheren with us.

Bottom line though, all bad for the RAF, good for the British Army, bad for the Int Corps either way and bad for the RAFP, but potentially very very good for us as we will ace it in the professional Int role.

I certainly don't want a Sy Sect tour, no thank you........been there, done that!

Discuss.....................

Well, if there even a tiny piece of truth in the thread:
a: it would not surprise me, the other branches in the Raf have been trying to get rid of us for some time
b: Would this mean we may have some 'fight' in the posts we fill/new posts as defence evolves into the new age with green leadership of us all
c: does that mean we will have some corps personnel to do all the G2 posts we have to fill on top of the others we have!
d: The raf may actually realise what an Int branch can do for it once we are gone

Any change will come a bit late for some of us...... but to rest, if this happens, as cat said, should be easy to shine and open up some extra jobs such as CI and other areas....:pDT_Xtremez_21:

Ahh...so, you have found one of the Int Corps Entrance exam questions, I think it was:

"using crayon provided, spell 'intelligence'

Chaps and Chapesses, sorry but I've got to vent my spleen regarding this thread. It seems as though the transition with the Int Corps is already happening - since 2004 anyway.

Currently on a "Cooperative" Sqn with the green slime and it's far from it I can tell you - I mean more fcuking "Army Do" than blue and green being "joint". Too many SSgt's throwing their weight around and not enough FS's (and blue Sgts) to balance the quoted cooperativeness of the Sqn. The issue, including the amount of slime SSgts there are here, is that a few don't recognise the distinct difference between the calibre of their Sgts with that of TG11 Sgts.

Example: It's possible that my next Sgt Maj (who I will have to address this person equivilant to a RAF WO soon) is someone who undertook the UKIAC when we both were Cpls at the time. Don't get me wrong - I don't have a problem with how well an individual can progress through the ranks upon merit and do well with their career, after all I do know that the Int Corps does tend to promote quite quickly, but from what was rumoured within the community, the Army promoted this individual upon several occasions so they can move on this person. How fcuked up is that?

Sixty, I agree our cooperative sqn is more messed up than the model it was based on... but we never made a good argument years ago(never really tried) and rolled over belly up to the other raf branches and service; as we are doing today - if the sqn re-looked at the model it was originally based on then it may make the coperative piece a little better ..........maybe::pDT_Xtremez_35:

I have just heard that 800 or so RAF chaps are getting the boot in the next few months and that the Air Force wants to reduce manning down to 25000 personnel. I don't think redundancy packages are available either, they will use natural wastage and RAF fitness test failures. Food for thought.

Right sentiment, wrong number, 38000 is the correct figure.

As for redundancy, there won't be any, not this side of Apr 2011 anyway. In case you hadn't seen it, the redundancy package has been changed from that date. It used to be that you got 1 months pay for each year served up to a maximum of 22 years. From next Apr it will be a maximum of 4 years. It's the very thing that the civil serpents are on strike about at the moment. The difference is that the civil serpents are being cut from 36 to 24 months pay . . . . . :pDT_Xtremez_06:

However, as you rightly say, if you're unfit then they don't have to pay anything . . .
