Police Redundancies??

Anyone in civvy copper world hear of any redundancy letters going out to any forces, especially Durham Constabulary, recently?

Not really mil linked but I heard today that 400 got letters and its the start of 25% cuts all round...

It was 1,160 letters but just for Civvys and PCSO's

I'm pretty sure from what my Civvie copper mate said they cant be made redundant. Just the support staff around them.

They've asked for redundancies from civvies and PCSO's, but they will just not recruit Police Officers to replace the ones that leave.

I feel it must be a budget thing to reduce PCSOs and Civil Staff - but the Met Police is advertising (in Flight International!) to recruit "Specials" 16 hours/month.

But don't forget mate, Specials aren't paid like the Regs are. Some forces pay their SC's bonus's, all get subsistance allowance and can claim mileage as well.

The cuts are certainly hitting the Police Staff areas, I applied for a Staff job a few weeks ago, and got an email saying the position no longer existed due to organisational re-structuring.

That tells me that the job was cut and the position is being added to someone else's responsibilites.

Looking round the various Police websites, for Civvy, MoD & CNC, nobody is recruiting for officers jobs, just the odd Staff jobs.
