Unbelieveable, on e of the lads ( a JNCO Techie ) went to go and watch the match in the junior ranks mess at the illustrious/behind the times large transport base in Wiltshire...

Upon entering the mess he was advised that he should go and watch the match elsewhere as the bar in the junior ranks mess was for Base Support Wing only...

Now tell me if i'm wrong but a junior ranks mess is for all junior ranks personnel... So to bel told that he can't drink there is utter ****e, especially when there were SNCO's and above in there drinking...

It baffles me that a JNCO cannot drink in his own mess as Base Support Wing (who obviously have time to let their lads off work during the week unlike the rest of us, as they've got f**k all to do because JPA has taken over their main duties, which somehow justifies them havin g a pay rise) have it to themselves...

I think it's absolute bollocks and they should be ashamed of themsleves...

Bunch of ****s, no wonder no ****er likes them...

"Go Drink Elsewhere"

"How does Fcuk off sound"

I would suggest a nice letter to the Stn Cdr pointing out that a Junior rank was barred from using his own mess should suffice on that one. even better if said Wing hadnt received permission to stack work early to watch the match......tossers.

It is a sickening sign of the times I'm afraid.
Personally I would have kicked off, you are quite right in saying, a JRM is for ALL and ANY Junior Rank. He should not have been asked to leave.
I would tell him to put in a complaint and not let it lie, until an apology is forthcoming.

Very poor...very poor indeed.

I always used to get upset when it always seemed to become an ALL ranks bar when needed. Pay as you dine seemed to mean SNCO wives in the JR mess for juniors meal. Should have gone and watched it in one of the many anterooms of the SGT/ Officers mess!!!! and explained when questioned. make sure you had an England shirt on with a collar though!!!!

Is the bar normally open during that time? Had it been booked 'out of hours' for a private function? How many people downed tools and watched the game in their office/crewroom? I know my Staish did because I was on the phone to his PA when Defoe scored.

OK, so maybe I was wrong to single out a certain trade, but who else do you want me to point out, the MT section who look at you like a piece of **** when you've been told with 2 days notice you're going to afghanistan and you go and visit them to get some signatures and get a gobfull, or Med Centre who are open in the afternoons about once a week... **** me, I wish I could have that much time off...

There's good lads in our place that haven't set a foot wrong in 10 years of service that are getting charged/maa'd all over the place for minor crap, yet I know that most of the lads that go ooa from our shift, and i'm sure many of the others have pay issues that cannot be resolved for months once they're back and nothing happens to any of the admin trade, when it's blatently your **** up, you know when we go away and when we're back, ****ing sort it... Mongs...

I think you should stand up and be counted, and earn your wage instead of letting life pass you by earning the same as us for doing sod all...

I'd be exceptionally interested to see what grievance could be presented in this instance particularly given the OP relating the story and was not actually involved.

However, as ever, every day is a school day....................

Sorry to burst the anti TG 17 bubble and as much as it hurts to support my shiney colleagues:pDT_Xtremez_14: but the JRM or the WESSEX had been booked by OC BSW for the match Hatters Bar the JR Bar and the Bowl were both open.

The fact that the Mess (not the JR Bar) had been booked by OC BSW was discussed at Stn Execs days before, so I'm afraid that you need to go back to your chain of command and have a go at them and not the BSW guys. You will probably find it was some GHOST of a snec who due to his infirmity forgot to brief his troops:pDT_Xtremez_42:

I was one of the lads that was out watching the match with VAJboy (;)) and it was one of my Cpls that was asked to leave the JRM. Now considering that our shift was on its stand down and entitled to be out drinking while the match was on it seems almost unbelievable that others were stood down from work as early as 13:00 to go on the razz while they should be at work is a joke. I could just imagine what would happen if the lads on the line were all stood down too. Not only would SENGO, OC FWD and the Harry Staish be onto it but i'm sure ASCOT Ops and Parliament be banging on desks wanting some poor buggers head due to their irresponsible actions. To me, if you can standdown your lads just after dinner and book a bloody function room then I'm afraid your tradegroup is massively underworked in todays RAF. I can't remember the last time I was able to standdown my lads day or nights. Maybe we're just getting something wrong or maybe its just that we we have bugger all slack in our workload. I wonder what would happen if my JENGO asked to book the Junior Ranks Mess for our lads who are on days for this Sunday's match? A big large "get the Feck outa here" would be the answer and I'm sure it wouldn't get as far as an execs meeting thats for sure.

And for all you self righteous bellends out there who seem to be living back in the 80's where time off was a norm you seriously need to have a reality check.

I think that the point VAJboy was making was that one of the Cpls in the Mess, aka Johna, had previously made it common knowlegde that the Junior Ranks Mess fucntion room would be open for all ranks for every England game and not exclusive to any section etc. Vajboy in his anger posted after a few beers and as fooking usual on this website nowadays was told to bugger off by the common everyday self righteous bellends that the RAF seems to have recruited in bucket loads. Sadly this has managed to filter through to the goat. Sad I suppose.

Anyway, its over to you but I'm afraid I would rather drink my own p!ss than have to read the drivel that some of you wankers will reply with.

Its all just another reason that I'm handing in my notice this september as it sickens me that its one rule for one lot and another for others. **** me its bad enough just trying to get leave in at our place due to every ****er being away in Afghanistan, the Falklands or al Udied let alone an afternoon off to watch a footy game and drink booze.

If the op had stated all the facts at the start and not gone off on a fuel inspired rant then maybe a few of the responses would have been diff. I, for one have never questioned the commitment and work the guys do especially in support of Ops, I even saw S2 working in KAF FFS:pDT_Xtremez_42:. But if a line manager has the flex to let his troops have some time off to watch the match then why not, but what he must stress is that come the working late /over a weekend then its payback time.

If you feel so strongly then take it up the chain and get the Sengo and OC Fwd to raise it at Execs.

As far as I am aware the staish was happy with this so OC's let their troops off.

As to the Cpl promising that the JR's was open to everyone then he was giving out duff Gen and this has not helped.

Mate if I could weild a spanner with any proficiency then I would help out and maybe thats the way fwd anyone who has troops who have slack then maybe they can organise manning assistance to come and clean the hanger or if its PSF polish your helmet.:pDT_Xtremez_42:

Heres a contraversial one if you are unfit to deploy then you dont get gash time off to make up for all the Det dodging:pDT_Xtremez_34:

TBH, I understand the frustration behind this post.

in 2003 in Basrah, a colleague and I were off shift and went to go for a drink in the 'RAF Bar' and was politely refused entry as I was part of JHF(I). There were army guys in there as they were attached to the RAF main unit (can't remember the title) yet we, as RAF personnel weren't allowed in there.

So - harking back to this post, if it's a Cpls Bar, surely a Cpl is entitled to use it?

I don't think it started as an anti TG17 (anything but TG1) slating, just frustration at not being able to use his 'own' bar!

So how about you guys give him a keffing break?
