I just assumed the inside video of Kandahar would be a no no.
We can't control what goes on YouTube, and if it does dissapear then the embeded vid will also dissapear.

I would have pulled the yellow and black before hitting the ground though. :raf:

The error, oops I mean problem, didn't manifest itself until just before the "landing". You can hear when, he throttles up......

Awesome footage.
Just like to mention that they are Yankee firefighters.
Feel free to criticise on response time & deployment. Yee har.

How far do they have to come to get to that bit of the airfield? It did seem a wee bit long before they started putting foam on the grass and anywhere except the aircraft...

With the pilot out and lots of whizz bangs still hanging under the wings now nicely covered in flames what would any RAF firefighters do in that situation?

Doesn't stop me having an opinion on the "publicly available" video.

Using the word "Error" when you may or may not have insider knowledge, isn't the wisest thing to say. As a civvy now, I have to watch what I say about corporate things I'm involved in (as sackings are not unknown!)

As for the video, a nice stall landing indeed. I would suspect that the position of 4 rotating nozzles possibly had a major part to play in this , seeing that the horiziontal stab (working on Boeings too much!) is almost fully pitch nose down and the aircrafts nose is still rising. Shame you cannot see the position of the cold nozzles to confirm it..

From what I have seen in the past, they'd have finished their volleyball game and still responded quicker. I don't know the distances involved, but it takes quite a while for the sirens to start to sound which indicates a slow response.

The landing is a bit similar to some of my flight sim landings.................. What landing gear? :pDT_Xtremez_42::pDT_Xtremez_31:

Initially I would have choked on my cup of tea upon hearing the Pegasus protesting so much & the subsequent sounding of the crash alarm.
Then I would have turned my ankle over whilst running to the crash truck rendering me U/S & the crash combine reduced to leaving me behind. I would then hobble back to the tea-bar & get the tea on for the boys, ready for their return to 'normal stand-by'.

If I had inside knowledge do you really think I'd be stupid enough to post it on here?

Looks in the neutral position to me. And I have seen reports before now where pilots have turned final and found themselves on the backstop of the stick.

Looks to me like he made a visual approach and mis-judged his rate of descent.

That the A/C stalled is not true, he corrected for his too high vertical speed but it was already too late.

Or are you telling us that a highly trained pilot with alot of hours on type doesn't know how to fly it?

Human Factors mate. He wouldn't have crashed if he hadn't made that mistake. They are going to fly aggresive circuits due to where they are. He does have the info on his HUD on his rate of descent. He was too late on the power to go round and it would be interesting to see what Alpha he was at when the tail hit (it wasn't low). Did I say that he didn't know how to fly?? Errh no..:pDT_Xtremez_35:

No. But the implication could be taken that way. Personal opinions on forums can bite you, I have found that out to my cost (well it killed an option of future employment I had..)

You should be careful what you post on the "site" that shall not be mentioned. I stopped posting on there a couple of years ago. It's not difficult for witch hunters to find out who we are:pDT_Xtremez_26:

True, but he made a VFR appoach. It's easy to mess things up especially with the sun in your eyes and a dirty windshield. Things look very different through a, "white windscreen".

The pilot that dropped his carbon fibre death provider into the sea at Lowestoft had hours on type and was 'highly trained' as well mate! Accidents will invariably happen whenever human beings are involved!

The pilot concerned made a quick recovery, although there was nothing the surgeons could do about his ginger hair (its still ginger!!!) and was back to work after the mandatory period off. He was chomping at the bit to get back in the cockpit and was flying again about last September.

I'm not sure about the BOI - some of us "in the know" dont even hear about that.

Anyway.....godd video!!!! :pDT_Xtremez_14:

I was at KAF and saw the pillar of smoke in the air but not the crash itself, so it was a good talking point when my missus took an interest in it last night!!!!

Glad he got out ok, although surprised he stayed with it so long!
