Luton March Hijacked

Is it just me or was the choice of black balaclava for the presumably BNP members that hijacked the Luton march probably a bad choice?

I'm surprised it has taken so long in Luton to be honest. Unfortunately peaceful protest will always be hijacked by extremist elements on both sides.

Off TopicOn the opposite side of the political coin some people think Arthur Scargill talks sense, but most of us are some where in the middle.Off Topic

I am in now way sticking up for the BNP, but in no report I have read did it say the BNP took part, I think that the BNP are too smart to be seen to be overtly taking part in this sort of thing because they are trying very hard to distance themselves from the old days of skinheads, drainpipe jeans and red braces.

Just because they wore balaclavas means they did not want their picture in the paper or on the police database.

What we have to remember here is they live in a town that has a high muslim population and as someone from a high muslim area, I would suspect they are tired of pussyfooting around the muslim community and they have had enough of being unable to say what they want, and that in turn breads a hatred of said muslim community.
And this has lead to such out bursts when they see the Army heckled at a home coming parade, I do not condone what they have done I just understand it.

But I would also say the the Muslim community as a whole has brought it upon themselves, after all how many times have you heard any imam speak out against the taliban or AQ or insisted upon peace and harmony with full integration to OUR way of life.

If the muslim community was more outspoken then perhaps we would not see scenes like this, I work with a couple of muslim lads and they both know I was in the forces, and both have said that what we do is fantastic and both have said the same as what I have above.
They hate the fact they are vilified because of a few people or how the press want to portray them.

It's not as high as a lot of places PS but it has increased by a good few % since i joined up. You are right about the pussy footing issue and it's been a long time coming.
Many moons ago a petition for 20 things was put forward from some of the muslim community there including a PA system for the call to prayer that could be heard up 2 5 miles away and council provided brick graves to name the two major bones of contention. The conservative MP not sure if it was north or south Luton threatened to to resign if they got any and they didn't.

Prior to this the local community objected to the local Mecca bingo house that has been there for at least 20 years(old odeon cinema) having one of the letter C's as white on a green background. TBH it started back then and will get worse.

Hats off to them I say !!! About time the fuzzy-wuzzys had it shoved up 'em for a change.

Can't see why it's legal to shoot 'em in the 'Ghan, but not over here.

That's a little bit stupid really isn't it. Why don't you rethink your post a little bit.

And what exactly do comments like this add to the debate? Perhaps a rewording or a deletion would serve to advance the discussion in a more measured fashion. TB

Yeah, I think that's what the grunts call "Firing for effect".

The was a valid point made earlier though, which is quite key as far as I can discern. The Muslim community needs to poice its own nutters up, before they can earn back the respect that was implicit before all this hoo hah went orbital back in the 90's.

After I left the mob, the first job I had was in the SA in Riyadh and Jeddah, where the Bin Laden family went to great lengths to do just that (they are in constuction nation-wide, well respcted and were one of our key accounts).

The Muslim community really needs to get to grips with who they are. One example was right after the London bombings when the missus was lodged up on the Edware Road close to the station. The next weekend, in order to diffuse the idiots on both side, the local Christian and Moslem community set up stalls right next to each other opposite the station, and stayed there in a show of community solidarity. It worked exceptionally well an put a very large line in the sand.

More of this needed. Everywhere.

You are right but unfortunately extremist groups for some reason have always been in luton, the IRA were collecting in several pubs in the town and 2 cells were caught there.

There is a large immigrant community in Luton. Historically it was Irish but now there are Poles, Afghans and a whole miriad of others too.

The Muslims shout off about wanting to disengage from the UK justice system and only answer to Sharia (sp) law so they are 'policed' by their own community. they can do that if they want but they are still accountabe to the UK as well, imagine how well that would work in the middle east or elsewhere if we turned round as an expat community and said, actually mate we are just doing UK laws here?
