Looks like it wasn't the ratings winner the RAF media types were hoping for.... (no fcuking surprise there then huh?)

From what a mate told me today apparently it is a decision from 5 to increase impact and apparently the RAF Web and Careers site have seen hits on the sites double since it was first aired. Dont know how true that is.

Somebody on proone posted this from channel 5
"Unfortunately, this programme has not proved to be as popular as we hoped in the Monday evening 2100 time slot and this is why we decided to temporarily remove it from our schedules. As you know, it will return later this year but no transmission dates are available at the moment.
As further information becomes available it will be released for publication in the local and national press. We recommend keeping an eye on the television listings magazines or contacting us again at a later date when we may have more details.

You can also get 14 day advance scheduling information for all of Five's channels on our website at:

www.five.tv/tvguide"

IMHO it was shown out of kilter
Episode 3 was the best yet with the Chinooks and the Regiment on patrol
It showed a bit more of what goes on on the tour and I personally enjoyed that far more than the first two
I imagine alot of people thought that looks intersting when the adverts where shown and then promtly lost interest after the first five minutes of episode one it really was a "what the fukc moment"
I actually wanted to see what goes on during an engine change ect not 30 seconds of "we lift the wing off, get the engine out should be flying by Friday" followed by five minutes of hair drying, make up and what goes well at the Butlins bop with body armour
I really couldn't give a flying fukc if the fire men needed a new table to go next to the BBQ and paddling pool but five minutes getting a bit more in depth with their equipment and role I would have liked to see
The first episode killed it and now when it's getting interesting no one is actually interested

Perhaps one for the RAF Media types to look at if you call it Warzone at least lets see the RAF doing it's war role
The chance to see a Regiment / Harrier / Chinook/ Herc sqn on ops is what I though we were getting not how tough it is going to Burger King
You could have filmed Kate at Lyneham going to the bop and jogging and saved yourself a packet

Apparently the last 3 episodes are postponed until later in the year to maximise its viewing figures. I also found out that the series has been a total success so far with the official RAF Careers website being swamped with hits in the adverts.

Now if this is the BIG SUCCESS then why postpone it? I reckon its more of a re-cut going on and a bit more "buffing" to show people that it's not the walk in the park they make it out to be.

After seeing the first 3 I would find it pretty misleading as an outsider looking in.

Does anyone remember a two-parter on TV a few decades ago called "the price of coal" ? The first episode was all fun and laughter, about preparations at the pit for the visit by HRH. There were quite a few comments about it being 'unrepresentative' and silly.
Then came part 2, which was a quick look at the pit when something goes horribly wrong. The bravery of the Mines Rescue men, the agony of the relatives and the problem with dealing with Management and the Press. It was a real eye-opener.

I wonder if Warzone might be working up to something similar ?

there must be more to it than this as they even pulled the thursday night repeat (of the monday show) which was a bit odd

I'm no PR guru, but even I could have told you focusing on combat barbie would p1ss service personnel off.

Its a real shame that this programme has not shown the RAf in a good light at all. Its Kate I feel sorry for, because she is really a very nice girl. I just hope the negative comments her dont affect her, because she doesnt deserve it. Shame on Channel 5 for making a mockery out of what is done out there.

There are people dying almost everyday defending the country, and thats the best they had to offer.....shocking.

As said befor, she is a victim of the RAF media Ops people and C5. Now if she was to make a complaint........

But the thing is, she did say what was broadcast, so who's at fault?

Welcome to the goat....what a great first rant although I do hope you are on a fishing for a bite trip because you say "embarrassment" to the trade which implies you are also an "adminer" which if true is shocking......No capital letters or punctuation........perhaps you would have been a better advert ? Me thinks NOT.

Crack on....................:pDT_Xtremez_09:

Kate should have had better advice.

But, she must have known that SHE had been selected to be a major part of the program. She could have said "No".

I imagine the lure of getting your 5 minutes of fame became a little too tempting.

Shame on the Media Ops. But they would have seen recruiting bulbs flashing in their minds.

Makes you wonder if the 'Powers That Be' had a final say in what was ultimaltely broadcst. That speaks volumes.

I think that your clerk is getting a bad press and is being used to slag off the airforce. Reference to the female accommodation and Ms Aziz's reaction to the change in Bastion is unfair. The BBC had a programme on recently that had a bloke at Bastion and during that he visited the female block where the troops had made the best of their lot and 'girlised' it.

Overall I was disappointed that Warzone was pulled especially with no warning.

Somone told me recently that the same production company that made Ice Truckers, is also doing a simlar programme on military drivers in Afgan.

I wonder who will fill the 'Kate' slot for that series?
