Nothing else you can do I don't think, unless Bengo has an idea.

All I can think of is to buy a new blade, but get one that has one of the little "wing" things on it. As you go faster, it pushes the blade onto the screen more firmly, stopping the rattling. It worked on my last car. Available from any car spares shop.

I did put new blades on Hmmm.......maybe if i bent the arm a bit like i did the rear when that one wasnt touching the screen properly...as the windscreen on our car sort of curves in 4 ways.....now i know that when i took the linkage off the car and unseized it i put it back on properly a few months ago..but this problem has been going on for a few weeks.....maybe i could fashion one of those little wing things as i do know what you mean....shall have to think on this...yup..im a cheapskate and like improvising.DT_Xtremez_31:

What are your thoughts on these "Hydrostar" add ons which improve economy by adding Hydrogen to the fuel mix ?

some of the fuel additives which add detergents and improve octane content are worth a look though, but they can be pricey. Personally, I advocate choosing a high quality fuel (Shell V-power, BP ultimate or otherwise regular Shell, BP etc) rather being a cheap-skate and using supermarket petrol which is generally of poorer quality. This is especially notable on diesels.

I've got a Rover 800, Drivers window won't work, first off had the electrics checked, they said it was the switch pad, so I fitted a new switch pad still not working, had several rover enthusiasts advise having the wiring and main fuses checked, which to me was an obvious thing which I'd already had done, all fuses fine as are wires, which leaves me with the motor, problem is that part is now obsolete so was wondering if there is another model of car whose parts would fit an '97 Rover 800.

I'd get in touch with a salvage yard. Either they will have an old rover 800 to rob of it's serviceable motor or.... (well I think you can guess)

In all seriousness, a quick google search for 'salvaged car parts' will bring up a couple of sites that offer a service where you tell them the part you want and for what car, and they tell a whole load of salvage yards. The salvage dealers will then call you offering to send you the parts by courier.

By all accounts they can be quite useful and often parts like motors, radiators etc will have been 'refurbished' too. You could save a packet on main dealer prices as well. As always 'buyer beware' prevails and look for a salvager who gives some form of warranty or a returns service.

No seriously I'm drawing blanks now - it might be worth getting in touch with a local independent Rover Specialist garage (they are around). Alternatively search the internet for an old Rover enthusiasts' chat forum. many exist for all sorts of cars - someone there might be able to help you.

In theory you could fashion any car 12v window motor to do the job with a bit of bodging and fabrication.

Be a bit of a challenge tho.

How many haynes manuel spanners would be given on that challenge, lol

I even tried a suggestion my brother gave me, to snatch a motor from one of the other doors, what's it matter if someone elses window doesn't open as long as mine does, but they all have different fittings, not a one would fit. Guess I'm looking at another summer with a closed window.

To be honest I've never used e-bay, have asked the seller about a motor but looks like it's buyer collect too, if no joy there I'll keep looking around.

OK Plumber is stuck, after a recent jaunt away to the land of the long white cloud, it became apparant that to do the things I/we want out there I/we need a 4x4. I've managed to narrow the field down to either a Mitsi L300 Triton or a Toyota HiLux, all the write ups don't leave much difference between the two. Can anyone give me pointers as to which one I should plump for, to be honest I prefer the Mitsubishi but Mrs P won't walk away from the Toyota.

I recall the Hilux performed well against various "tests" on Top Gear, inlcuding starting after being blown up with a block of flats. I can't imagine the motoring overseas is going to be quite that tough though, is it, even with you drivingDT_Xtremez_08: ?
