British armed forces veterans could have their driving licences stamped with a "V", as part of plans to improve the recognition of their service.

The move, similar to a US scheme, could see 2.5 million ex-military personnel issued with the new licence to "clearly distinguish" them as veterans.

The card would give holders easier access to specialist services and to offers, including retail discounts......

It also comes with dedicated parking bays at some stores, a yearly free oil change (week prior to Armistice day) and best of all, less hassle from the idiot border point operators.

Mind you, in the UK your car would probably be trashed for displaying it.

Does that mean those who joined up but got kicked out of Swinderby/Halton or Trade Training for not being good enough will get a "V", the same as someone who completed 30 years and earned half a dozen campaign medals in austere conditions?

If so, kick it into the long grass.
