Whilst these people grip my siht is another matter, but is there any way to stop them? I can understand people will drive slowly past any traffic incident site but could a minimum speed limit be imposed and enforced? I fail to see why people need to drive past an incident site at 5 mph then roar off at 90 other than morbid curiosity. And worse, why can't we have the matrix signs or traffic cops putting out minimum speed limits on the OPPOSITE carriageways of motorways and dual carriageways, and enforcing them, to stop these fcukers bringing both sides to a halt? Some people might cry the cops have had there numbers slashed but there never seems to be a shortage when Grandpa Smith needs arrested for non payment of council tax or the likes?.......

Or you could just plant a shrubbery down the central reservation. No Gawpers during the day, and no dazzling HID headlights at night.

While a nice idea, it is not workable mate.

Picture the scene, opposite lane from accident, 20MPH minimum speed limit in place.

You are driving along quite happily and fully intend to drive past the accident without slowing and without having a massive gawk.

Unfortunately the bloke 5 cars in front is a bit of a tube so slams the anchors on down to 30 (which he reasons is ok as the minimum is 20) and has a good gleck. The guy behind him is forced to brake and due to the concertina effect slows down to 28 to prevent hitting the other car. Follow the concertina effect down the line of cars and you end up being the one who has to slow to below the minimum speed limit. You get nicked?

The police should have a big mobile screen that they can put up between the accident and the other side of the motorway. This would prevent swanneckers as well as allowing a bit of respectful privacy for the potentially injured.
