Playlist/Songs for a bar.

As E-Goat is populated by cultured type chaps from all walks of life I thought I would ask the opinions of the above on music.

I'm currently compiling playlists for my bar. I've got thousands of songs that I make into hour long playlists but want to add a few fresh ones instead of recycling my current collection. The stuff I lean to is either Indie (Oasis, Verve, Kooks etc), rock (Stones, Who etc) more funkier soul and blues (Creedence, Aretha franklin etc). I need to steer clear of anything too heavy or overtly pop as I find it's not to punter friendly. Quite like a bit of funky dance for later but steer clear of anything cheesy.

If anyone can be arsed to stick down a few songs in a playlist I'd very much appreciate it, if not any stand alone tracks or bands that need looking at. I'm a bit out of the music loop at the moment.

Cheers,

P.S non of that lady ga ga sh1te or hip-hop rap tosh.

For the more well-known and popular accessible side of funky Vagabond try a bit of James Taylor Quartet, Brand New Heavies and Incognito.

Two relatively unknown bands (OK they share the lead singer but are two separate bands) from Australia are...

Karnivool

and

Birds Of Tokyo

Karnivool are sometimes classed as Modern Prog Rock, but they actually have a variety of tunes... some louder than others. (Try the tracks 'Umbra', 'All I know' and 'New Day')

Birds of Tokyo are more soft rock. (try 'Silhouettic' and 'The Saddest Thing I Know')

They may provide you with the odd track that fits in with others... but no-one knows who the band are!

Failing that for a bit of funk rock try Lenny Kravitz. For something Funk without the rock... Jamiroqui.

For the quieter moments you can't go wrong with a combination of Fiona Apple and anything by Radiohead from OK Computer and before (everything after OK Computer is a bit to 'experimental')... mind you some would consider it a bit too depressing!

Hope this helps

I always playfully tap the missus on the rump when this comes on.

She venomously smashes me in the face afterwards but it's worth it. :pDT_Xtremez_14:

I can't see you going far wrong with Back in Black on repeat!

Blimey, there's some freakin' great music mentioned in previous posts. Having been a regular in establishments like The Church, The Backpacker, etc, in my youth, pretty much anything guitar-based (indie, metal, blues, rock, punk/new wave, etc) will see you reet.

No My Chemical Romance?

Get some Alice Cooper on but avoid School's Out.

Best detachement I ever had was running a bar in Film City Pristina. (I mean running the admin set up). All those knock off CDs just needing playing very load over the Bose system. Working a 16 hour day in a bar AND getting a medal. I feel such a fraud when I see the documentaries on BBC3 showing the guys on the ground in Nafgan. Mind you when those peanuts were flying you really had to keep your wits about you......
