Normally our lords and masters wait until they have left the services before going off message. But the head of the Army has seemingly gone off message whilst still in uniform.

" General Sir Patrick Sanders said much of the Army’s ‘platforms’ were ‘outdated’ and ‘not fit for purpose’, and derided our reservist force as neither ‘capable’ nor ‘credible’.
The head of the Army likened vehicles such as Warrior and Challenger 2 to ‘rotary dial telephones in an iPhone age’."

"He said: ‘I trained on the 432 armoured personnel carrier in the 1980s when it was already 30 years old; it is still in service today."

So, if he's right, all the bright shiny toys aren't nice to play with but are old and seriously outdated for the modern battlefield. He's not all that keen on the capability of the reservists either. I await one of our dear leaders saying something similar about RAF kit

Remember those soft skinned land-rovers....out in operational theatre....Which were about as much use as a honey bee with hay-fever....

From the link ⬆️provided by Barch

"The head of the British Army is expected to stand down next year, with the Ministry of Defence reportedly interviewing for his replacement. General Sir Patrick Sanders only became Chief of the General Staff in June 2022, an appointment that normally lasts around three years."

He's jumped early, head of the Army not happy at being told a naval officer could do his job! Only a fortnight since his rant about kit

A deal of our airborne kit is Boeing and current with what the yanks are flying so not too dated and functional. P8, C17 and Chinook are class leaders, Airseeker merely a dated yet low hour carrier for the Guccier kit inside that matters. Then Airbus with Atlas only 8 years old although with its own niggles and Voyager a tried and tested adapted airliner. I guess we could poke a stick at Hawk for it’s age buts about the only British jet we use in numbers these days and still does the job.
