A few years ago Mrs Ted and I were at Lake Bled. It's a really beautiful place where it was easy to unwind and relax. I can't remember the names of the restaurants we ate in but there are quite a few decent cafés, bars and restaurants around the lake and in the town. Beer was mainly Lasko and Union, both eurolager style but each does a dark beer. We got the bus to Ljubljana where we spent a day shopping, it seemed a nice enough city. While you're there try cevapi (meat fingers), delicious.

Visited for a week or 2 last year with work - not somewhere i would have thought of ever visiting, but really nice. It isn't huge, think 3 - 4 day city break and i used tripadvisor to find places of interest and to eat.

Thanks for the advice and cracking photos. We are the type who avoid tourists and especially rowdy young Brit tourists at that, so we are really looking forward to this one before THEY find it...
