Anybody here a dab hand with mowers?

My self propelled mover will propel but when I engage the cutting blade there is a squealing akin to a belt slipping, the engine labours and it stalls...

I've stripped it down but can't seem to find a problem....

Any thoughts?

Have you stripped the bearings to clean and regressed?

Yeah....

Everything seems to run and rotate freely and individually, and it will propel withput the blade engaged, it only goes wrong when the blade tries to engage....

Will the blades engage when you tip the mower back? ie. when the blades are clear of the grass?

It's a Toro 20624-7000001.

Sounds like "... your transmission is toast!!!"
