Why not? ACOS manning is currently chronically undermanned (as recognised by CASWO's annual report and other members of the AFB) following the CSR reductions and a paper was submitted to COS Pers to buy back some of the liability and give JNCO's the fantastic opportunity to experience Career Management before, potentially being promoted and taking up post as SNCO CM's themselves. These JNCO's will be selected from a list of volunteers and carefully managed by experienced CM SNCO's who currently lack direct managerial experience; a win-win scenario. Whilst eventually given full CM responsibility for managing JNCO's and below these JNCO CM's will receive the same level of training as the SNCO's, will work along side them and will come under the same governance that all CM's do. They will be strategically placed in certain trade groups (that has yet to be decided) and will allow the SNCO's in these areas to engage more with personnel under TSCM, answer your e-mails and occasionally answer the phone
DT_Xtremez_14: The JNCO's will not replace any of the SNCO's just give them more capacity in certain areas where they are employed.
Another recommendation of CASWO's report was the empowerment of JNCO's (as we have some very talented ones in TG17 as well as other trades) and this initiative will give this small number of JNCO's an opportunity in an environment that has traditionally been a bastion for crusty old SNCO's! I don't think anyone has anything to worry about as many of the current crop of CM's are recently promoted and have been doing a fantastic job.
