Is It Time To Specialise The Anti Terror Role?

With the media reporting that Met Police are being over worked and there is a risk that officers will be burnt out with the increase in anti terror raids, is it worth having the discussion about removing that role from Met Police? Could the UK benefit from having a dedicated anti terror unit similar to that of Gendarmeire or GSG-9. A unit that is entirely removed from the command and manpower of the Met and or Scotland Yard but still commanded by the Home Office.

Isn’t that what the Met’s for, to cover off National things like this. Unless you’re going to pump some more cash in to supply extra resources then changing its management structure ain’t going to change much.

Agreed.. the Met have SO19? That do that sort of thing. What's needed is it being correctly funded and resourced and not short changed like is currently happening.
