Right youse lot, as Penguns Sucks says "listen in". My last thread about Professional Equality generated correspondence from a desk near that of the TS and we are now in dialogue about stuff, which is nice.

Now if I was TS I would.................spend the first 6 months visiting as many places as I could to observe many of the diverse TG17 jobs, speaking to as many of you as I could seeing what you want and how we can take the trade forward. And some other stuff.

Bearing in mind there is no cash in the pot, what would you do as TS?

Feel free to be as sarcastic as you like, this forum could do with livening up!

Use ex-TG11 peanuts purely as Helpdesk lackeys and coffee makers for Ex-TG3. Garbage jobs like that would make most of them PVR surely. Scrap the TG4 concept altogether and let TG3 get on with what they were already doing....current TG4 work!!!

Having said that. Peanuts could be made to give quality bulling of Ex TG3 personnel toecaps!!!

Now polish Peanut beeatches!!!

How about letting you start fixing Chinneys or Toncs now shineys are about to be paid as techies cos your fed up sharpening pencils with JPA and there ain,t much of a job anymore .:pDT_Xtremez_28:

Where to begin? As you said, if I was TS I would:

1. Visit the trade to canvas oppinion and see the diversity
2. Be more approachable!
3. Find a way to provide more manpower to the RAF focal point to create a better JPA knowledge hub like we had with SAMA (instead of the so called helpdesk).
4. Better accreditation for US not just the orrificers
5. Drop the pers support title
6. Rank range some of the OOA posts so that Warrant Officers can go!
7. Publish promotion details properly (ie update the spreadsheet on the ACOS page)

phew, there are more but this will do for now.

Send out a service direction notice that may actually be interested to the trade, rather than just the Branch, although it's nice to see something.

Get rid of the FMDL restriction on SNCO, unprecedented and probably the most damaging thing to happen to any trade recently.

Get worthwhile Civilian Accreditation, CIPD all the way, give the kids CPP and perhaps Post Grad for Cpls and above.

Look at the trade name Pers (Support) [is that right] the Army use Combat Human Resource Specialist and they are more generalist than us.

On a positive note the TS has got us up-banded, and, having spoken to him on several occasions, cares about us and our trade. Therefore, I have used this as a sounding board rather than a venting point.

Oh I am not having a pop at the TS, very nice chap, speak to him a fair bit, may even fancy the job myself in the future. Just trying to garner opinions and create debate.

To misquote Tony Blair 'communication, communication, communication'. I remember being briefed by the Trade Sponsor whilst on a course and he seemed surprised that chf clks were not disseminating his info. He was surprised that when he asked who had seen his feedback from the Chf Clks Conference, that only 1 of the 10 of us put their hand up. That said, the A1 page on Airspace looks like a step in the right direction. Not sure what the rules are, but use the likes of egoat to get the message out as not all of us have access to the intranet. He/She could maybe have an easily identifiable egoat name (in addition to an egoat 'pseudonym') to add credibility to the message.

Oh and BTW, when visiting as many places as they can, the TS should pay the poor souls at the MOD a visit, as there are quite a few TG17 there filling a wide variety of roles. Much neglected IMHO when talking about 'core roles' and 'HR is ace' guff. NB - I left there nearly 2 years ago and since then the TS may have shown them a bit more lurve - if so I'll get me coat...

Branch and trade need to move forward hand in hand - there should be no us and them with regards to CPD.

And Busby you are right the letter from COS Pers on the Branch/Trade was not as inclusive as it should have been. And on that topic anyone seen any fallout/results on the committees they are forming to take (both elements) us forward.

Regards the watch - typical old people loosing stuff!!

Ensure that the Trade drafter is approachable and follows the same ASPI's that all the other trade desks have to, look at the TRT's for the trade and then look at the seperate TRT for ACOS Manning staff and start asking questions about the disparity and sack all the TG17 Personnel who slag off their PSF's without having the ball's to work in one themselves. Then on day 2.........

Make sure different people are rotated through ACOS Manning and not allowed to stay for ever and a day. Get rid of that fcuking insane FMDL at Sgt rank. Ensure genuine parity of treatment for all TG17 in particular with regard to the DWR. Etc, Etc, Etc

I've been in TG17 for 20 years and never worked in a PSF, I won't dream of slanging any of the lads and lassies who work there. I do get the impression, however that certain parties employed in PSF, look down on us unfortunates on Flying Sqn as inferior. No one should be allow to remain in the same post for more than 4 years and junior members should serve at least one tour on an operation flying sqn in order to broaden their horizons outside the PSF bubble.:pDT_Xtremez_28:

TripleSAA said it all communication communication etc etc. Oh and making sure the DWR system isn't abused, perhaps external oversite of the DWR list by the TS may help allay fears of nepotism. A healthy ration of transparency will help as well. Where and when did the CMs last go OOA?
