The reports are sketchy and "A serious air incident has occured" It appears that the pilot has lost his life. No reports of groud casualties yet.

Also, reports are coming in that a Sptfire has crashed on take off at Biggin Hill.

Not a good day for aviation.

Why is it that the BBC cannot keep it's trap shut until there IS real news as opposed to a load of hogwash ?

It's great how the aviation experts come out of the woodwork. This guy sells his services as an expert

http://julianbrayrecessionbuster07944217476.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/oulton-park-chris-evans-carfest-event.html?spref=tw

"The display team is made up of Folland Gnat aircraft, which first entered service in 1955 as a jet trainer BUT NOT USED BY RAF FOR DISPLAYS."

WTF were the Red Arrows flying from

1964 to 1979 ?
if you read the article it says as far as we can tell this particular aircraft specifically ser no, was never intended to be part of red arrows just a fast jet trainer.

RIP

He's realised his error and changed the text. We live in a world of scrolling news, how many times have we seen errors made on captions or stories edited to take out mistakes. As far as I know, apart from the kit that makes the smoke there was very little difference between the Red Arrows Gnats and the standard T2. To say that the airframe wasn't used for display is correct but isn't really relevant. The Newspapers today (electronic versions) say he was performing stunts, that sounds a bit more dramatic than a display

I just read it this morning and didn't realise it had been changed. There's always someone to appear on TV with an opinion.
