I notice many on here are on a monthly payment decided by their provider, they tend to guess at these charges in order to attract you to their tarriff - don't wait till you've been in a year before you discover you owe them a ton of cash - for at least the first 6 months do a monthly meter reading yourself and submit this to them, you monthly payment wil probably increase a bit but at least you won't be faced with a bill for underpayment or a wacking rise in your monthly payment next year

Private, 3-Bedroom detached.

Gas used over 12 months - 15356 kWh
Gas costs - £728.24

Electricity used over 12 months - 4258 kWh
Elect costs - £611.10

Natural Gas.

No Fuel & Light subsidy.

I'm with British Gas on their EnergySmart scheme which apparently (yeah, right!) saves me 180 quid a year over something else! I also collect Nectar points (100 per month + an additional 1000 a year for being a dual fuel customer) thru the scheme, which is automatically allocated to my mums Nectar account ('cos I luv her).

What I cant understand from the replies of so many other goaters is why they dont know how much gas/lecky they've used... which kinda implies that they don't know what they are paying for. How do you know if the gas/lecky companies are ripping you off? You wouldn't do that for anything else so why do it for your utilities? How odd.

I think its time to get my ar$$e into gear and take a look at USWITCH and see if I can save some cash.

Update = The best deal that USwitch could find will save me a whole £30 per year - hardly worth switching, especially given that there would be penalties to switch again (from the new supplier)

No, civi's get to chose where they live.

House is only a couple of years old so insulated to the max (not one of those temporary brick fronted timber framed jobbies) with lots of glass on the south side and not much on the North, all appliances at least A rated all bulbs either LED or CFL.

I was thinking about Solar but I won't be living here long enough to make it worth my while.

Good luck SSH, to my mind there's only about half-a-dozen worthwhile replies to your request. To say on here how you pay without stating for how much is just bloody pointless, how can anyone draw any conclusions with only half the necessary information?!
