Oops - didn't see that in the small print!

Just got my certificate of Service and it appears that I have a 7 year reserve commitment!

Being slightly stunned I checked my Re-engagement paperwork from 2004 and it says going from "22 Years (with no reserve)" to "30" years!

No mention of reserve- how did they sneak that in without me seeing it- anyone else got the same or was a NEMism?

I fully expected a term of 5-7 years reserve service when I PVRd after 24 years in 1999 - but....nothing?!
I actually got Nil Reserve Service.
So ALL of my uniform, including gas mask, got dumped (Stores didn't want it either - so it all went in the bin)

When I was signing off at the 9 year point they had not long changed the compulsory reserve from 9+3 to 9+6. They gave me a nice letter telling me how much prouder I'd feel if I voluntarily accepted the additional 3 years in the reserve.

I'm not sure if any ex TG3 were called up for GW1 but I must admit I smiled a bit, 5 years later, when CNN showed those tomahawks flying up the road into Baghdad...
