well said that crab!!!! i just been told that there are 27 operationally fit birds in the RAFP! In technical terms i think we're screwed!!!!! i know a chick that had to book her r n r for her kids 1st birthday and that it was towards the end of her tour in the desert too!!! It's sickening to know that there are people out there who pull there weight along with a few of the others as well and miss the most important part of their sprogs life! She was a single mum too so had to leave sprog with granny!!!!!!

God damn biff chits!:pDT_Xtremez_09:

Ive been out of service for a good while and Im wondering if this increase in sickies is anything to do with cutbacks in service hospitals etc?

I wouldn't like to say, as I feel it may end up in the scum or other reputable toilet paper.

The treatment is definately getting slower. 15 years ago, I tore a shoulder muscle paying rugby, went to the doc got my army smarties, 2 days later in with the physio 6 weeks after discharged back to playing sport whilst prepping for Bosnia.

fast forward the odd year or 3 it has taken 2 years to get a specialist appointment and an MRI. Fortunately just old age that knackered my knee so I am back into getting fit and getting back to OOA jobs. I still do the 1-2 week jobs that come up world wide (including sandpits and fleapits) I just forget to tell the Med cen until I get back:pDT_Xtremez_19:

I am temp downgraded (for over 2 years now) and i agree it seems to be to stop any legal action by individuals. The first question I always get asked, "did you do it on duty?" To which I reply "no, whilst playing rugby" The doc then types "definately on duty, other duties!"

Just for the record - not all downgrades mean you are not deployable

some downgrades are just like long term sick chits. My one for instance still has me deployable but I can only undertake things as limited by my RI until my achilles gets fixed. If war broke out though, I couldnt say "Sorry Cheif, I'm downgraded!" (Not that I would!! ask my mum how upset I was when my TA sister refused to go to the Gulf on grounds of being a student, FFS)

I am at CJPU and I reckon there are 3 of the fit chics here although you could push that to 4 if one of them scrubbed up a bit more.

Operationally fit - well u all look good after 5-6 months on operations so only 27 is not much to be proud of!!!

I think, as many have already commented, that it is the compensation culture driving this problem. I wonder whether when people go in, whether the person has to say 'can i be downgraded?'. Do the doc's make the decision for you. Some cases will obviously be easy to rule people out such as a broken bone but what happens when it is a fine line? Does the doc make the decision or does the patient request to be downgraded?? I had a doc at our place thinking i wanted to be signed off as a result of going in with a dicky back which i just wanted tablets for.
As for the people who know they aren't genuine, I hope you enjoy leaving others to carry you??!

Not at the sharp end we dont!! As for flying in the aircraft, if we didnt fix the f*ckers how would anyone fly in the back of em and more importantly how would people be rescued and troops ferried etc etc. So get down off yer soapbox and stop talking crap!

Yeah respect when you do the work OOA but the amount of fecking spanner monkeys that I have seen pass through med centres cause they have to go away is frightening they are a disgrace nuf said

For everyone of the 'spanner-monkeys' aka highly trained technicians that passes through your empire there are many more dedicated people who enjoy the dets, are not serial pie eaters and who become much better at their jobs as a result of being put under pressure. I would like to say money is immaterial to me but i need it to live, I didnt join my trade because it paid more than another and i certainly dont use it against anyone! As for other trades, I have a lot of respect for many trades such as medics cos I couldnt do that job!
