Oooh, now there's an ex-Binbrook supplier at work; spot on. 26DK 158 was indeed the complete radome mounted within the engine intake of Britain's greatest ever jet fighter.....

26DC 1? I should know that one because it rings a bell from my past... but b******d if I can bring it to mind now
Never been to Binbrook...Gutersloh and Leuchars however...

26DC 1 =Vulcan radome. Had an issue order one night when I was on the VOG crew at 16MU. I was on 3 Site picking up some bits and rang in to see if there were any more priorities to pick before returning to Trans. "Go to 6 Site and pick up qty 1 26DC 1 - it's a VOG for Finningley". Points the MT driver in the direction of 6 site and off we go in the J2 VOG wagon. Get to M(?) shed and find out that the box is bigger than our wagon!!

Gets back to Trans and asks why they hadn't told me it was a BFO box that needed a 10-tonner to carry. The punch tape message that came from SCC at Hendon didn't give such niceties as a description. After that, 26DC 1 always stuck in my mind. Victor bomb bay doors wouldn't fit in a J2 either.

Ah happy days at 16MU, Being duty runner on guard post first few nights before being seared as a drone for DENSITY ACTIVITY COMPLEX. Every tried to ride the bloody bike with one pedal arm. That was one place I never really visited SCC. DAC was awfully as a Box Basher promoted to Box Basher 120 class. Soul destroying. 1981 to 1984

Last week I thought I had found a pair of 5C/1079's at the local auction house that had been mis-identified. Got down there as soon as viewing opened but alas they were just lamps made by the same supplier.

On a slightly different note, does anyone know when these lights were last used on an aircraft? I heard they were installed on the Vulcans but didn't know if they were installed in Canberra's, Victors or Shackletons.
