A ghost story?

Regardless of whether you believe in ghosts or not, I'm sure that we've all had events which lack a good explanation.
I was talking the other week to a guy who'd been at Cottesmore n 1969.
A phone rang in two locations, (one was Air Traffic) the receiver was pick up and a voice said "I've crashed my kite."

"Where are you?"
"the Churchyard" came the reply.

The base was sealed for a period of time while investigations took place.
The helmet was found in the tree in the churchyard.

Can anyone please confirm the basis of this story please?
