    TG1 Retention again

Original CAA Licences are AMELs as opposed to EASA Licences which are AMLs - The Euro definition of “engineer’ involves certificates and universities. The English version of “engineer” is as a verb which is to influence an outcome, i.e. to engineer a remedy or a change in outcomes. In Part 66...

A CAMO doesn’t need to be in the same locale of any aircraft. Many civvy CAMOs are based 100’s of miles from their base maintenance centres. I know of one lady who is the CAMO for several UK-wide helicopter operators, including small fleets, and all working from her home office in Norfolk. The...

Open Letter from Retired Senior Military Leaders to the SoS.

Can’t say I remember a FireWire issue. My observations were that in a lot of the pipe clamps a lot of old oil mixed with dust and grime (from field Ops) to form a fine cutting paste that literally wore through the titanium pipes - mostly inline with the front of the engine and Cold Ducts - both...

Similar to Ulster Exile’s scenario (post 16), I was, for the most of my last Laarbruch tour, a rigger Sgt heavily involved in ALL of the RAFG Harrier Pipe Audits and because of this I noticed several pipe fretting trends across the RAFG fleet. I raised this through drawing a diagram for where...

    Pulling the plug?

Im not biased at all…but I wont get an EV until Diesel is withdrawn from UK. I still recon that a five or even ten year old diesel is mor eco friendly than a new EV drawing excessive power from the National Grid, that has built-In obsolescence of a few years and is bad for roads and multi-story...

I don’t know if Rasta hats are being worn on parade yet but perhaps someone could confirm that? In this old fools mind, having someone choose to ‘differ’ from the rest of their team indicates that they most likely will ‘differ’ from the order to harm the King’s enemy…

    TG1 goodbye Chf Tech

There will be a new page on Faceache:- "I was a C/T in the RAF" (You saw it here first!) TG1 never had anything close to parity with their civvy aircraft engineer rates. The previous RAF pay system was, I believe, based on the 'size of contribution to society' and, as such, if binmen were...

I saw today that ryanair B1 linies are getting £101k+ at STN. Although I work on helicopters now (thank you SATYS), in 2017 I hired an A330 B1/C at MAN for 85k….

Strange as that is built to (and there is at least one) CS25 Civil Standard. Didn’t make it on to the market for the last 15 years of teething issues’ though! So the RAF has adopted the French preferred way of licences then! Sadly I don’t think that would transfer to a Civvy Pt66 though :-( but...

Ive lost touch with the education system now, but some colleges used to do night school course for Part 66 licences. Also, what courses do RAF Guys do for A330 and A400? Join those If you can, as part of your resettlement.

    TG1 Retention again

Like most RAF Courses this is a very much shortened and sponsored version - to get your licences on the outside - unsupported and self funded - can take 5+ years…. If you have the opportunity and availability (for any profession you might like to do) my advice is to go for it while you can.

Something I've been meaning to ask about being time-ex.

I have now spent longer out of the RAF as I did in…24 years in. True, I changed careers to a better Life but I still meet with old mates and ex-colleagues. We still have banter and rejoin old conversations that started years ago. When you walk through those gates you will no longer be welcome...
