Blue lighted Taxi's to and fro the nearest town/city on nights out.
Nice WO's in MT who allowed 'trade training' runs when you needed a vehicle in exchange for either biscuits or a round of beers at their next beercall.... which lead to nights like: as a young LAC up at MT absolutely hammered with another LAC mate of mine and the FS was stood there cupping each of us so he could decide who had the biggest and firmest!!.. wouldn't happen now!
Decent beer calls with big urns of pink polar bear which got you so drunk you stottered back to the NAAFI with your rank clides upside down, hat on the wrong way if you could even find your head to balance it on and everyone carried on drinking in the 'bop'

Been out for 10 years (don't know where the time's gone, but that's another story!) this month, but it has to RAFG for me too, managed to do 4 tours there in 22 & a bit years. I could never believe that some of my contemporaries didn't want to go.... still it meant more chances for me to get back out there!

Bring back some overseas postings.... 15 years in and there are virtually no overseas postings for my trade (there are a lucky few in cyprus).

I have to jump on the RAFG bandwagon here I'm afraid. I had the best 3 years of my career at Bruggen. The lads on the sqn, beer calls, nights out in Roermond/Monchengladbach/Rheindahlen/Wegburg, tax free fags and cheap beer - what more could a 21 year old singly wish for. Had a wee thing for dutch girls too - ended up getting engaged to one in a moment of madness.DT_Xtremez_14:

Travel warrants to any part of the country before you had to give an address. Use to travel all round the country thanks to the four rail warrants.

Yeah, that amounted to a £500 pay cut for me. If I remember correctly, this measure was in the Bett report but with the caveat that pay should be adjusted to suit. They cherrypicked the former recommendation and left our pay alone. They implemented it in double-quick time too.
