You choose to be obtuse assuming everything is on my doorstep. 30 mins melts away when you haven't been at work for 13+ hours. Don't hand it out if you don't want it back.

Aww bless, leave him alone lads... he's obviously tired!

Don't worry Vim, by all accounts, you'll get another chance to vote within the next few months:pDT_Xtremez_30:

I would agree with your last point, but 120 minutes in a 15 hr window is (to me, anyway,) leaving it until the last - especially as it is highly likely (and was borne out by yesterdays events) that so many people felt that it was so important it could be left until two hours or so before polling closed...

Happen they should say that 2000hrs is the last time you can vote unless...you have a signed excuse chit from your employer/parents etc?:pDT_Xtremez_34:

Question.

How did the postal vote for service people on ops or overseas pan out?

Did it work out okay this time?

For all you docile cnuts that relied on getting to a polling station, are you fcuking retarded or what?

I had a lovely cup of tea whilst I thought about it, milled about a bit, watched some telly and then filled in my form. My missus then popped my Postal Vote in the postbox 3 days ago.

Simples. :pDT_Xtremez_05:

I didn't "assume" anything. You quoted my first coment as though I was speaking about you, when I was refering to lazy @rse couch potato doleys who had all day to vote but choose to do so at the last minute when people are trying to vote on their way home.
Plenty of people could have voted a lot earlier in the day and eased the situation in the evening. Your coment about family's and childcare is valid, but I have neighbours, six adults and five kids in the house all on benefits. There is no way that they have a childcare problem but they still didn't go to vote untill 9pm...........................just before the offy closes.

BTW, you weren't the only one with an early start yesterday, only I'd done three hours by the time you hauled your @rse into work. :pDT_Xtremez_14:

No it's not, and it allows multiple people to be handed their ballot paper if the staffing levels mean that it is viable.

How is it NOT one list?

How many times do you break it down?

How many different lines and where do they start!

Sod it have member of staff to greet each individual personally and escort them to the booth! FFS!!!

Why blame the electorate for following the rules when the polling station staff have clearly fouled up in a spectacular way?

The polling stations are open 07.00 - 22.00 therefore any time within that window you are allowed to cast your vote, regardless. That's the rule and it was adhered to by the majority who rightfully complained.

How can "too many" people turn up when each polling station is supposed to be geared up to handle the specific population?

Like many people I work 12 hour shifts, I start before 07.00 and don't get out until after 19.00. Our populations diverse working hours is the reason we have these extended voting hours.

Simplest solution to the extended queue - post a Police Officer at the end of the queue at 22.00 and allow all those in before 22.00 to vote.

They don't have a right to complain - I saw one interview with a woman who turned up at 1900hrs and stood at the back of a fairly extensive queue...fair enough. She then left the queue, went to the shops, then came back and noticed that the queue hadn't moved much....but she had to go to the back...she did this 4 times, then moaned when she couldn't get in!

I also saw another interview with a young voter who was bemoaning the fact that he, too was disenfranchised...however, it was pointed out that he pitched up to vote at 2125 or thereabouts....

My point is, that if you can't plan your life and vote early in the day, or if you know you are going to be busy and cant be bothered to register for a postal vote, or even if you accept that its highly unlikely that you cant get to a ballot station and get someone to vote on your behalf, then you shouldn't be able to b**ch and moan about it...man up, take some responsibility and plan ahead!
